Writing On The Internet
"How do you compete with other more experienced writers when you're just starting out?"
Writing on the Internet
People write on the internet for many reasons, they write as a hobby, they write to have their work read by others and some write because the internet gives them a voice to share their opinions and say things that they wouldn't be brave enough to say in their real life.
Some people even share their lives in their online diaries and blogs, and some people write to share information that they have learned to help others.
Creating a complete list of reasons people write on the internet would be an impossible task, but most people who write on the internet are trying to earn some extra income from their writing.
Writing and Competition
Writing is not a competition, it is a way of sharing information that you think will be useful for others, if you are writing on a specific topic, then you must make your article as informative and as interesting as you possibly can, you must research your subject thoroughly, and your content should be original, not copied from other sources.
Trying to compete with other writers is a mistake, if your article is read-worthy it will be read.
There are millions of would be writers like you and I on the internet, to go into competition with all of them would be an impossible folly.
The best way to get readership to your writing is through promotion, there are many ways to promote your work on the internet including social bookmarking, backlinking, and marketing.

Jimmy, I like your writings a lot, but on this one I'm gonna need to point out that nothing here is really a "competition"..... Symantics, I suppose, but HubPages isn't a competition, it's a platform.....
R. Martin Basso
Good point, Jimmy. HubPages is the greatest.
R. Martin Basso, I totally agree with you.......jimmy
thanks William and Doc.....jimmy
Some fields are not really occupied by hupages and doesnt work here.
I write about travel on www.worldpolis.com much better response but for the other topics like news hubpages are definately the best for now .
Competition strange . The whole idea is to cooperate here. Get more supporters and fans - Exchange fans etc . ok
Agree with you totally, Jimmy, writing online or anyplaceelse is about communication not competition--nice hub, good info.
This is definitely the best answer in the group - 10 thumbs up! (I'm an alien, hzhz).
Interesting, thanksy!
Jimmy as always you've hit the nail on the head.
Great hub regards Zsuzsy
Very well written hub. as I was waiting for the page to load, I was thinking it really isn't a competition. Competition is for the news reporters trying to break the big story first. Thumbs up from me!!!
Wonderful...so accurate in it's portrayal of hubpages as a place of support, even as we try to encourage outside readers to enjoy our columns. I've got a ratio of 50-50 between readers within hubpages, and readers outside hubpages ... but it's the hubbers, whose comments I treasure.
I agree with jacobworld. This is not really a competitive atmosphere, in my opinion. I don't think the goal here is to compete. Especially since most of us are writing about different things. Although, I appreciate the sentiment behind the question, which seems to stem out of insecurity in the midst of all these seemingly "professional" writers.
You have said in your hub that we have to do a research to write good articles. During research we may come across some articles which may have an impact on our writings. Hope this would not spoil the originality of the article. Can you please share your views about it.
Spot on, Jimmy! I like the word "community", because that's the feel of HP. Like a small town, where everyone knows everyone.
