How to Stop Bad Breath?

In order to cure bad breath we should know first what causes it. It can be the food that you eat or the improper oral hygiene. On the other side certain medical conditions such as diabetes and gum disease can be the reason for the bad breath that turns people off.

The third big reason for bad breath according to experts is the sinus drainage. How do you know that it’s your sinus that causes that unpleasant smell. Well, 85 to 90% of the people have bad breath coming from their mouth. For the rest it comes from the nose. When the latter is the case bad breath is caused by sinus drainage bad breath.

What is really Sinus Drainage Bad Breath?

It sounds horrible, doesn’t it? Sinus drainage bad breath is a condition where the sinuses become inflected or inflamed. There are many reasons for that varying from viral infection, as in the case of colds, to allergens if you have allergy to asthma attacks. No matter what the cause is the result way too often is sinus drainage bad breath.

How Sinus Drainage Bad Breath Occurs?

Whenever a person gets sinusitis, the mucus lining of the sinuses become irritated and start to produce excessive amounts of mucus. A normal person regularly produces mucus to keep the nasal passages clean and clear. However, when these mucus linings are irritated, they go on overdrive and produce too much mucus, causing a common sinusitis symptom called postnasal drip, which in turn could lead to sinus drainage bad breath.

What’s more - the infection causing sinusitis may also cause inflammation of the nasal passages. They connect with the nose through your sinuses to let air into the lungs. When these nasal passages are inflamed, the channel is narrowed as a result of congestion, thus adding to the whole problem by blocking the normal drainage of mucus. In the end the mucus gets trapped within these nasal passages and starts to attract bacteria, which thrive on dark, damp places.

These bacteria will proliferate and excrete waste products that contain noxious sulfur compounds causing sinus drainage bad breath.

How to treat Bad Breath coming from the nose?

If you want to treat the sinuses in order to cure your bad breath you should consider medications. There are plenty of over the counter nasal sprays, antihistamines and decongestants that relieve inflammation and congestion and dry excess mucus.

Before you do that seek doctor’s advice. It is not so hard to cure bad breath caused by sinuses you just need to take action.
