Because of the current financial climate I have wondered just how much the economy has affected the internet home based business industry. I'm told that more people than ever, now look for an internet home business to save them from the crisis. But what exactly are they looking for? and can the internet really provide the answer?

I would have to say both yes and no. The internet is a world of opportunity and at the same time it can rob you of every penny you’ve go.  It all depends on what kind of home based business opportunit you happen to fall into. That in turn, will probably depend on how much you know about internet marketing and how much you are prepared to learn. Because, without skills and knowledge, you will find nothing but disappointment.

Even without experience, It is possible for you to find success on the internet, but only if you join a business opportunity which offers a complete training and support program. Not just training about the product you have just bought, but training that covers all the skills that are absolutely essential if you want to become a successful home based business operator.

The toughest obstacle a Newbie has to confront is to choose the right product. That's because the right product is rarely the one you’ll find in your inbox. First of all, it won’t be expensive. It will have real content such as training videos and direct person to person support and mentoring. Those kind of opportunities are available, but you will need to look for them.  You will also have to focus your search on what you need rather than what you wants.

The wrong business opportunities will be extremely easy to find for several  reasons. Your inbox will be full of them, they will all look very exciting and when you read the sales letter you will be convinced that this product will bring you all the wonderful things you have always hoped for. That’s because it's has been designed to lure you with promises and with images of the things you you hope to get.  Like the beautiful car, the mansion, and a life partner from the pages of Mills and Boone, all beautifully presented. To make it yours, all you have to do is buy the product..

If you can remove the emotion, and clear your head, what you’ll actually see, is a website promising to get you all these things, but never telling you how.  That's because the 'how' is your responsibility. Any business, online, just as in real life, needs sales. It’s what makes a home based business run. Whatever product you choose to buy, you will have to promote and advertise it. All these websites are really saying is ‘buy the product, sell it to other people and your rreward will come’.

Recently, one such promotion made a compensation plan the actual end product. It sold like crazy for a few weeks. It had a great website but no product.  You were asked to promotel a compensation plan so that you could earn compensation on the compensation plan. Can it get any sillier than that? Yes it probably can, and when it does, it will be the next great thing for a few weeks.  A lot of lazy marketers will make a killing and a lot of bedazzled newcomers will take a big loss.

Why are these promotions so successful?  It’s all about the money.  These products are not really products. They are just pretty wrappings with a capture page to tempt you to buy.  They have been designed for a very specific purpose. Long established, lazy marketers love to get in on these products, they are expensive so there’s a hefty affiliate payment for them, and they get first bite of the cherry.

All they have to do is use their auto responder to send out a sales letter to their massive email lists of, in some cases, hundreds of thousands of real people.  It never even raises a sweat on their brow. The tough [part of the job is to sit back and wait for the money to roll in.  The promotions don't last long, but they are not meant to.  Once the buzz dies down and the negative comments start to appear in the forums the product has already been shelved. But that’s to be expected, because the next big thing is waiting in the wings, all it needs is a final polish before the launch.

Few Internet marketers are interested in old products, but they will gladly accept recycled tired old programs with outdated information, as long as it looks new, and inviting, with a gimmick, a brand new website and a hefty commission. That's why useless products so easily find a wider audience, while the few good products often get overlooked.

Beginners to internet marketing have every right to expect to succeed in a legitimate home based business, without being ripped off by those who have the edge of experience.  It's wrong for jaded, lazy marketers to entice money from inexperienced, hopeful people in this way. But it is also fair to say that Newbies shouldn't expect much consideration until they have at least educated themselves enough to tell a good product from a bad product.  Until people can do that it's foolish to buy anything.

So why are good products not getting the same attention as the bad products? Good products, and by that I mean products that fill a need and can genuinely be called a home based business opportunity, are very rare. That’s because there is not much left that hasn’t already been created by someone else in the past.

It takes time and skill to create an original product.  The creator will usually have a genuine commitment to the product and to the customers. Vendors, who really do have a good product, tend to price it fairly because they want to see it reach the people who need it. They also want it to continue to bring in sales over a long period of time. That means affiliate commissions will be small and the big guys won't touch it. That leaves fewer affiliates who will promote that particular home based opportunity. The product therefore becomes a lot less visible on the internet.

Genuine, inexpensive home based business opportunities do exist.  They offer the kind of strong training and support that will enable you to earn money while you learn. Learning is tedious, but it’s critical to your success. If you can implement in practice what you learn for each task during training videos and mentoring, you can start to see the results much sooner and, believe it or not, it actually becomes fun to do, not to mention, very satisfying!

True success takes a little time, it takes work and it takes discipline to stay focused on your goals. If you can do that, you will succeed and you really will be able to realize your dreams.
