How Effective is the Phonebook

Where is your phonebook these days?
From the time I was young, our phonebook was used for all sorts of things. Something to sit on to make the little ones a little higher in their chairs or way to start our fires in the fireplace! Needless to say, there have been and still are many uses of the phonebook.
The sad thing is, is that the phonebook is a super expensive device to use when advertising and a business just HAD to be in it in order to survive the competition! Our business, a tree service, has been spending an average of $400 per month to advertise in our local phonebook and it has served us well but things are changing. The calls for estimates are going down per month and other advertising resources are needed.
Unfortunately, print advertising has all gotten so expensive. Not only the paper and ink that is used but how do you distribute the ads? We have tried post cards which got very expensive. 1000 cards sent out would costs us $350. The return was lousy. We have tried newspaper ads that costed us $150 per month and the return wasn't too bad but nothing to brag about!
While thinking about or other chooses, I thought about what I do before calling a business for their services. Hmmm...where is that phonebook? I really don't know, it must be stacked in the corner with the other books that don't get touched. I went to my computer and realized that I google everything I do now days. A movie, a restaurant, a gym..you name it. That is where I need to advertise but how?
While doing my research I found the simplest and fastest way to do it without even having a website. LocalAdLink was my answer. For only $100 per month, our tree service is in front of every person that googles or talks about tree "things" in our local area. I was able to pick 10 zip codes and even make up a coupon that could be displayed online with our ad. LocalAdLinkseven provides the website, the design and the pictures for or ad. I am so impressed and can't wait to cancel that phonebook ad next year while saving $400 per month. We will be increasing our online advertising in the future. Thank you LocalAdLink.

I agree it is better to let your mouse do the walking (hehe) instead of the fingers.
Localadlink is the wave of the futuer for marketing. I like how it targets your specific areas. Way to go Jennifer. Seems your tree service will be getting some great exposure.

I agree that the internet is the phone book of the future. Most of my research is done on the internet, including shopping and looking up businesses.
