We Can Help Each Other With Generic Traffic

I have been studying a little more on how to get more traffic. The internet has become very large and commercialized. This has caused that many website owners to start purchasing advertisement. There are several internet SEO businesses that charge and help websites to get generic traffic.

Some of these principles can be applied to Hubpages and would help us recieve more traffic.

What Fellow Hubbers Need To Do

Hubpages administration do a little of this with the hubmobs already.

What we need to do is start back-linking to each other's sites. This will act a lot like what Wikipedia does, and will create a massive interlinking with Hubpages and will start ranking all of our hubs higher. I have been reading Mark Knowles hubs, and he does some of this himself, as he states in his hub "How I got my hub to be on Googles first page"

As you can see, I have set a lot of back links in this hub for a test to demonstrate what I am talking about.

Mark does an excellent job of creating several hubs about a topic, then links them all together - This in return creates of credibility to his hubs by the Google spider bots, and he ranks pretty high.

The point is that if we take this to a higher plan and start using the force of numbers from all of our hub buddies, we can create a interlinking system as strong as Wikipedia. I thing Wikipedia actual has an internal team that does this full time. The are methodically creating as many back links as possible to help not only information to the readers, but back links to themselves for ranking.

I propose this to all my fellow hubbers and to the Hubpages' "Gods" on how to proceed with this. I propose we all get in a habit, as we write to look for other hubs, fans and friends that either are related to ours, or at least find hubs that pertain to the words that we write and start linking them to other people hubs.

Hubpages even provides a widget that as we send traffic to other sites, that we can share in the adsense click through revenue, so you not only help build ranking, you will be able to share in the profits from traffic you send to your fellow hubbers.

Lessons From Wikipedia

Wikipedia is the sixth ranked website according to Google page ranking. They do not spending a lot on advertisement, but rather rely on free search engine marketing strategy. The strategy is simple.

All you have to do is open up any topic on Wikipedia and you will see that about 20% of the words are linked to other Wikipedia entries. The essentially optimize the links within their own website to backlink to themselves. Thus creating a massive indexing system for the Google spider bots. Every time an item is changed and save, Google and the other search engines get a prompt by a pinging software and they comes and crawls through Wikipedia, creating new and updated backlink information.

All of these links and activity drives up Wikipedia's search engine rankings. On a lot of subjects, Wikipedia shows up on the first page of the search. Try it. you will see what I mean. Type in liberalism into the Google search. Wikipedia is first on the list.

And this is all free traffic. And everyone knows when you rank on the first page you get a lot of traffic. A lot of traffic means more click through on Adsense, Amazon and other sites.

Dear eovery,

I don't participate in AdSense because it confuses me and I am not sure it's worth it. You have given me something to think about. Thanks!

Breakfastpop,

It is a little confusing, but once you got it setup, it works without any work, unless you try to optimize it. Without optimization, the income will be low, but a little income is better than none, when you are doing the writing anyway.

Keep on hubbing!

fascinating hub, eovery. You did your homework and it could pay off. I'll try to use back links on my next hub. I generally list other stories I have written with links to them, but I'm not doing a good enough job listing other Hubbers' links and I'll have to repent. Thanks for an interesting and well-researched humb. Don White

Eovery, I bookmarked this Hub. Two questions: can we use articles from other hubbers? and Do we just type the A Href before each word? I tried it, but I'm blonde, so it's not working so well.

The value of a HubPages backlink is probably extremely diluted, but it's worth a try. A site linking to another site is considered a 'vote' by the Google Page Rank calculation algorithm. Backlinking to two sites provides 1/2 a vote to each site. Backlinking to 500,000 sites provides each site with 1/500,000th of a vote. Since HubPages has a relatively high Page Rank, even a tiny fraction of a vote is better than nothing.

Thanks Don,

Jiberish, the way I did it was the highlight the word(s) click on the link button in edit, which looks like one chain link, which pops up a window to enter the url in. Then in a different tab in Firefox, or IE, have the hub there you want to reference, and copy the url out of the address bar into the link reference. You can also add a capsule of links and just link to that. I hope this helps.

nicomp. I have heard several arguments. No one knows the secret the search engine use for ranking, if we did, we could become rich fast. However, when I see people who are making money, using backlinks to their own hubs that way, I say that it works. People I trained under says, never give up a chance to have a link. Also, Wikipedia, which example I use, does pretty much nothing, except banklinks and they are ranking high all of the time. So I do think there is something to this, but we do not know exactly how the search engines calculate this.

Also, there is the point of everything time a hub is saved, and the search engines crawl through the hub, and pick up these links, it goes into the search engines database. More backlinks in the database, more ranking from my understanding. There used to be the value of the link by relevancy. As Hubpages grows, and especially if you link to relevant hubpages, both of the hubpages can grow in relevancy and importance, and can increase in ranking from this increase of ranking. Kind of exponently behavior. This is what the Hubmobs do too. Thanks for the thought.

Keep on hubbing guys, and thanks for hubbing over.

I've read the papers published by Page and Brin when they created PageRank and Google. Have you? As you said, no one outside the inner circle of developers at Google knows with any certainty how pages are currently ranked or delivered when a search is performed. We can experiment and speculate, which has become a lucrative cottage industry for many SEO 'experts'. Almost all of them start with the caveat "no one really knows" but quickly progress to "here's how you do it."

nicomp, Gee you are fast. Are you sitting there watching computer, or do you have software of some sort to let you know you when some approves or comments to your comments.

As you said, no one really knows, but it appears to work for others. Thanks

Jiberish, Anything to help a blonde out,

Keep on hubbing
