How I Find Blogging Ideas

Find Your Blogging Topics

I used to struggle with finding subjects to write about. When I am in the zone I can crank out a solid 5 articles in a single day, however, It was getting hard to do that when it was taking an hour to simply figure out what to write about. I was struggling so bad when trying to figure out what to write about that I actually just took a day off from writing on all of my websites to research a little bit about how other people get their ideas. Since then I have had no problem finding things to write about.

If you are reading this article chances are you have trouble finding things to write about like I once did, or maybe you are just curious as to how you can find more ideas. When I was learning to pick topics more effecively I realized a lot of websites did the same thing. They listed a bunch of general categories. They would say things like "write about sports, travel, or food" even though that advice is completely useless because it still doesn't give you the topic to write about but rather the broad niche. Below are some of the methods I have found work best for me when I need topics to write about.

# 1. Alphabet Brainstorming:
This method is actually extremely easy. You get a peice of paper or open a word processing document and write A through Z down on a paper. After this you go through each letter and write a single word beginning in that letter. For example you would put something like "Aztecs" for a and "Boston" for B and so on. After doing this go through the list and look at the topics, see if these keywords help you come to a subject you can write about. Typically after going through my list a second time something clicks and I have a topic or two to write about.

# 2. Horizontal Brainstorming:
This might be one of the very best brainstorming methods. You first just think of one general topic. For instance you might start with Sports. If you start with sports you keep narrowing it down with something that interest you until you have your topic. Here is an example.

Sports -> Football -> College Football -> College Football Players -> Best College Football Players -> "Top 5 College Football Players Of The 2009-2010 Season"

# 3. Problem Solver: This method is really easy to do and can even help you learn new things. Basically what you do is find some sort of question asking website. Whether you look at Hubpages questions or Yahoo answers it doesn't matter. Once you get on the website just look around questions. When you find a question that you think a lot of people might ask and you can answer, write a hub about it. For instance if someone is asking how to install new windows in their home and it seems like a lot of people are interested in this topic, better yet you just put in new windows than you can write an article on how to do this.

# 4. Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better:
This method is a bit cheap, but it works. Read others peoples articles and when you find one that you think you could re-write better and with more information do it.

# 5. High Paying Keywords Method
: I'm not a fan of this method but I must admit I have done it and even earned a bit of cash from it. Look for ANY high paying keyword that has a cpc above $15-20. Most likely you will know nothing about the first topics you see, so choose them and take a few days to research them. After this write your article on the subject. The reason I don't like this method is because I enjoy writing about things I have prior knowledge with, but if you are really desperate for a topic than it works and can be profitable.
