How I Made Money On Hubpages
57
I just finished reading some nice topics on Hubpages forum, the one topic that led me to write this article is the topic "pitiful google adsense earnings" I want to share my experience on how I started on hubpages. A year ago I read an article about blogging to make money, so I got interested, but during that time my idea of blogging is like writing your personal diary. Anyways I still search for a website that I can join for free, after a week of searching I found hubpages on one of the social site. I checked it immediately and I read Susan Peters profile and it says there that she has so many articles about pet grooming and she joined hubpages so she can publish her articles online so more people can read it. Susan gave me the idea, like her I also have lots of health articles that I wrote from before, some for my personal file, other are my paperworks from school years ago. So I started learning how to use hubpages and I did publish my first article 2nd week of December 2006.
I was so happy to see the articles that I published and of course I also posted some of my flower photos and my charcoal drawings, but after a few months I removed those photos from my articles, since those photos is not relevant to my articles. I only placed it there so people can also see it after reading my articles.
After 2 month of publishing articles on hubpages I checked on my google adsense account...I made $3 in 2 months. I felt good, but I admit I was not impressed at all. My $3 earnings doesn't make me stop on writing articles for hubpages, I simply enjoyed sharing new information that I've been learning from my readings...after 3 months I get the urged again to check my adsense earnings...its almost $100! ...I was so happy then. Now I'm making a few hundred dollars per month for the things I enjoyed doing, I know more people here are making thousands of dollars per month, I know someday If I just continue to do and enjoy what I'm doing I will also make that amount, so my advice to those new hubbers is just enjoy what you are doing and the money will come later.

Congratulations on being a successful Hubber. I haven't been on here as long as you have - but I can definitely see my google account grow at a steady pace.
your almost 500 HUBS in 11 months is say 50 per month. What a production line. Perhaps you are not sleeping much.
Very impressed
Great article thanks.
My story is similar to yours, but I haven't been with hubpages as long, nor do I have anywhere near the large number of hubs that you have. My hubs consist mostly of columns I wrote while working as a newspaper editor before I retired in 2000. I didn't even know there was any revenue from hubs when I signed up, so making money is not my goal. I'd just like as many people as possible to read my opinions, and do some of their own thinking on the same topic. Thanks for telling your story.
len7288,
Very nice article. I agree with you about rewriting what you read in your own words. I have just started writing hubs and now have 3 and have earned about $3 from adsense in 2 months. I have also learned a great deal about earning income through publishing articles from Ed Dale in the thirty day challenge. http://thirtydaychallenge.com
I took a little different spin on writing articles. I started writing more about things that I have been very interested in. During the past 20 years I have rescued and raised many stray cats. From this I came up with articles like:

Before HubPages I had two blogs of my own on which I published articles that I felt were of general interest and managed to accumulate a little over $3 in the course of 2 years. I then discovered another blog that, like HubPages had a 50/50 split on the Google Ads but did a poor job of promoting itself and most of the writers seemed to concentrate on diary like articles. But it did have more exposure and over the course of 3 to 4 months during which I published about 100 articles I saw my Google Adsense account grow to about $20.
I discovered HubPages last October when it was still small and soon after I began publishing on HubPages saw my Google Adsense Account pass the $100 mark and received a check for a little over $100 in January. So far in 2007 there have only been two months in which I have not generated at least $100 in Adsense revenue and one of those months my Adsense Earnings were $99 and twenty some cents - just shy of the $100 needed for Google to pay out for that month.
I started 2007 with a little over 100 articles published and I now have 290 articles on the site. While I try to write articles that people will be interested in and always double check them for grammar and spelling, I have to give the HubPage team and fellow Hubbers a lot of credit for my succes. The HubPage team not only gives us great tools to work with but they also do a great job of promoting the site which brings in traffic. Having a large body of good writers also helps to attract readers. While a reader may be attracted to a particular person's Hub article, once on the site, if they like what they see many will stay and surf around and vist the sites of others.
My advice to new hubbers is to be patient and build up a body of good articles and the money will start coming in. Number of articles is obviously important as the more you have the more people you are likely to attract thereby increasing the odds that they will click on your ads. Also, try to continue to publish regularly as the search engines seem to pay more attention to blogs that are active. This is a great site to write for and there is money to be made here.

I think the internet is determined to teach me patience! I thought the instant world of the internet was designed for the impatient like me, but when it comes to making money it appears that patience is the key!
Well really helpful Thanks
Great encouragement. Thank you.
Definately Agree! I've only been with Hubpages for about 4 months, and at first I only saw pennies. Now, I'm seeing dollars a day! Although, it's still not 100s a month, I definately see the ever increasing balance.
But, Adsense is just a side note. It's wonderful and all, but I love that there's a way to share the info I know and help others. Now, that I'm not working at a pet store anymore, I can still help people with their animal problems via HubPages.
Surprising!!!
Nice Hub. I thought I was the only one not making money, but when I signed up it was not with the intention of making money. Hub pages is the only site I have submitted any articles on. I love it here and have gotten a lot of encouragement. Maybe I will try and venture onto other sites such as blogs and see where that takes me.
This is like a dream page. There can be a light at the end of the Web rainbow.
Thanks for sharing. I will start writing soon.
What if we like the weird and not-interesting articles? That's the only kind that I like to write. Why wrie mainstream crap and get no enjoyment out of it?
Thank you so much for writing this hub and giving newbies a light at the end of the tunnel. I love writing and Hubpages is the perfect outlet.

You are correct. I have not published as many hubs as you have but I see my adsense account growing each month. I am not getting rich by any means - but it is still exciting to check on the progress each day.
