How I lost 10 kgs in 3 months easily - with no diet, and no gym

Some things I did change.

One of the reasons I lost weight so quickly is that my apartment is on the fifth floor and there is no elevator. I remember when I came, how challenged I was by this walk upstairs, but now I can do it easily. Also there are many stairs here - up to classrooms, down again, etc.

Another is, I think, that I have almost deleted milk from my diet. It was hard to determine what was milk here and often I ended up with yoghurt. And when I did get milk, it went "off" quickly, so for my daily coffee I use a premix - all the milk and sugar is in the little packet with the coffee.

Meals - I do eat three meals a day. Breakfast is always porridge that I prepare myself in the microwave. A piece of fruit, and my coffee.

Lunch - often a chicken burger, and even chips with it sometimes.

Dinner - a restaurant or canteen food. The latter is very basic Chinese food. And I'm avoiding the canteen more and more. Four months and it gets a bit much!

Snacks. I do have quite a few - and often high calorie, but generally lots of fruit.

That's the story!

Three months and laughing!

It is true - without any diet plan, no patches, no fancy pills or program, no exercise regime, and just "living" I have lost 10 kgs.

Fancy that! I have had to ditch clothes - I have had to get new jeans. Now I need new ones again. The "new" ones are falling down! I'm laughing!

I have always had a weight problem - once many years ago I could not gain any - but after having two children I gained and with diets did the yo yo thing. I'd lose it and then put it back on again.

How did I do so well this time?

I moved to China - where I have been living for just four months. In fact, it probably has taken not 3 but 4 months to lose all the weight, but initially I didn't notice it, and only yesterday I was on scales for the first time. In reality I don't know how long it has taken.

No special food? That's right - I've eaten mainly Chinese food at the college canteen. We are provided with plenty of food - but I don't always eat all that is on my plate. I have in fact had a chicken burger for lunch on frequent occasions, had a glass of wine or two 3 or 4 days a week, and indulged in some snack foods and sweets - something that I don't normally do.

Exercise? I don't do any formal exercise - but walk everywhere. And some days it can be many kms. Even just walkign to the bus stop is quite a way. And I live on the fifth floor and there is no elevator. And my class room is on the fourth floor and I am forever going up and down. I do have a bicylce, and until it had a flat tyre I rode it about, but now I walk everywhere.

My contract is almost at an end - but I plan to be back after nearly 8 weeks back in Australia. Will I keep the weight off? Will I lose much more when I return for a further 4 1/2 months in China?

I guess I will just have to wait and see.

But I will walk more, and I will watch my food. Maybe, just maybe I can keep it off forever.

Amazing how a change in lifestyle can let you lose weight natually, yet so many people diet and can't lose a pound. Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations! Walking is indeed excellent exercise. I have found that wearing a pedometer has really helped me in monitoring the amount of walking that I do and, as such, I push myself to walk more each day.

I wish I had brough my pedometer - I'd love to know how much I walk. I shall be bringing it back with me next time.

Thanks for your words of encouragement - my task is not completed!

A very good idea about a pedometer. I bought three, because they were very cheap. However, I found out that they are not accurate at all (never buy too cheap!). I like to walk about 20.000 steps of quite a nice walking pace per day, if possible. It keeps me quite fit. I like to spread my walks all over the day. It is a kind of a discipline to drag me off computer):

Probably doesn't matter too much if they are not accurate - it is a guide only. Isn't it?
