How many girlfriends is too many.? More than one girlfriend is one too many. If you have more than one girlfriend then you have just got yourself a whole lot of friends without a girlfriend.

A girlfriend is a person who you have selected to spend your time with on a date or just for companionship. There should be an intimacy there that should not be shared with other girls. When you have one girlfriend you are thought of to be in a relationship.  A relationship involved two people relating to each other.  A relationship does not involve an harem, that is, you and several other girls of your choosing.

If you say that you have more than one girlfriend, then the fact of the matter is that you have no girlfriend at all. Why? Because a girlfriend is just that, a girlfriend if you are a boy. Now other girls can have a lot of girlfriends because they are all platonic friends and the term girlfriend is used loosely to denote a friend who happens to be a girl.

If you are a boy, however, and is asking the question how many girlfriends are too many then one of those girlfriends are going to think that you are cheating on her if she sees you with someone else. If you are a player and you think that you should have more than one girlfriend then you need to get your game together so that none of these so called girlfriends ever meet up while you are on a date with one of them. Also early on in the relationship, you should tell the girl that you are only interesting in being friends so that you can meet other girls without any misunderstandings.

On a platonic level, you can have many girlfriends and this statement applies to both boys and girls. But if you are romancing a girl and have asked her to be your girlfriend then you only need the one girlfriend. Girls can get quite posessive if they think that you are dating only them and then see your cell phone contact  full of numbers from other girls. Unless you have discussed having an open relationship which is very uncommon, then you should be dating only the one girlfriend.

If you think that one girlfriend is not enough, then you should make it perfectly clear and tell the girl who you are dating that the relationship is purely platonic. You need to tell her right away that the relationship is only of friendship. The word friend to a girl means that there is no dating and getting intimately involved with you. The word friend can have the same relevance as being a classmate and going on a science field trip together. There should be no dating moves on the girl if you consider her to be just a "friend."

Make sure that you understand the difference between having a "friend" and having a "girlfriend." The second cancels out the first. The girlfriend status means that there is a comittment there and that you are not seeing anyone else romantically except her. The friend status means that there is not  a relationship there other than friendship and in that case you can add friends as fast as adding them on Twitter, MySpace or Facebook.

You can not have too many friends but as far as a girl's perception of a girlfriend, only one girlfriend is needed in a relationship at a time. Once the relationship is over with one girlfriend, then you are free to leave the country of the girlfriend and start a new relationship. Girls will only tolerate one girlfriend at a time and that girlfriend had better be her.
