WHETHER OR NOT you are aware of it, you are a composite being with several different "you" in control, one overlapping the other. There are outer and inner "you".

One of the outer "you" is your body and its component parts, that are visible and invisible to the eye. This includes all the inner organs, the nervous system and everything else about you that can be located, isolated or identified. As a matter of fact, there is hardly any part of your physiological "you" which cannot be reached in some manner and which does not lend itself to check-up, analysis, diagnosis and treatment or correction when necessary.

The outer "you" is also represented by the sum total of your traits, mannerisms, characteristics and mode of behavior. It is the outward indication of your make-up, of who and what you appear to be. It is the impression others get of you as to your character, abilities and personality. It is the feeling you generate in others as a parent, a friend, a neighbor, a worker or associate. The inner "you" is represented by your mental "you".

They comprise the emotional, creative, imaginative, conscious, unconscious and the spiritual "you", and are the most complex part about you. They baffled man through the ages and to this day men of science and medicine still grope partially in the dark and still do not know what the complete mental "you" is.

They know that the mind is the hub of all human activity, the control center for all thought, feeling, emotion and reaction. They have been able to identify the thalamus, and isolate portions of the brain which control various urges, senses, impulses and responses. But they have not learned as yet how and why we differ so much from each other in mental make-up, nor have they been able to find out why or what makes one person an average individual and another a mental genius.

Your mental "you" is what you make it. Barring basic functional deficiencies or physical impairments your brain can be trained and developed in numerous ways. It can grow, expand, project, deduce, combine, learn and remember. It can be directed into specialized channels and be conditioned to strange stimuli. The creative "you" is that inner urge to find expression, recognition and self fulfillment. Behind it are the dormant urges and potentialities within you that need only be tapped to open a new, glorious world of joy and satisfaction.

The imaginative "you" is the amazing ability of your mind to project itself into the unknown, the unexplored and the unexpected. It is in your capacity to dream, to envision new, entirely different and seemingly impossible ways to do things, to live and to make life more enjoyable. The conscious "you" is the reasoning, analytical "you" which enables you to compare, contrast, deduce, evaluate and come to certain decisions. That, however, is governed by your emotions which are the motivating power behind your behavior, your actions and reactions. They, in turn, are controlled by habit and it is within your power to change your habits to suit.

The spiritual "you" is that inner drive for oneness with God. It is the spark of divinity implanted within you at birth. It is the stirrings of the soul, the seat of goodness, of kindliness and loftiness. It is the spiritual affinity that always strives for all that is pure, fine, noble and elevating in man.

Capitalize upon all of these "you" within you and above all listen to the promptings of your soul and hearken to its message of truth. Then you will surely gain in peace, in serenity and in happiness as you continue to climb upward on your stairway to success and happiness.

So, how many of "You" are there?
