How Online Marketers Can Keep the Newbie Zeal
62For most Newbies, those just coming into affiliate marketing, it’s not hard to remember the initial zeal you first had when you got bit by the online marketing bug. Hopefully, many still possess it, whether finally crossing the thresh hold from Newbie to Beginner or not. Those who may feel that they’ve gotten a little burnt out, will truly benefit from learning how online marketers can keep the Newbie zeal.
Experts probably have their own definition or concept of what constitutes a Newbie, and what is actually the next level above the Newbie. One way to apply the designations are:
Newbie – absolutely clueless about how online marketing actually works, but is eager to proceed based on real or perceived (mostly perceived) notions about the industry.
Beginner – been at it for a few months, and has mastered a few of the basic techniques, to the point of generating SOME income on a regular basis (even a small amount, as long as it is consistent)
Newbies Want To Know All They Can
It doesn’t matter what you choose to call yourself, or others like you, who are just beginning down the road of affiliate and online marketing. One thing is certain, the initial spark that started a fire in you, causing you to want to know all you can about marketing, should continue to burn. Your newbie zeal should never die out. This zeal is a big advantage that Newbies have over the Beginners and the Experts, or more seasoned marketer.
Like any work that a person gets accustomed to doing, marketing can become so second nature to some, that they forget to stay fresh, and keep up with new trends in not just what people are purchasing, but the way in which they purchase. Some professional online marketers become so automated, that they actually get complacent and lose their zeal altogether! They may be making money, but are not experiencing the joy they once had in their work.
There is a saying that goes: “If it is not broke, don’t try to fix it!” That basically is a true statement, and it makes a lot of sense. But there is also another saying that carries a lot more weight: “There is one thing that there is always room for – improvement”. No one can deny that statement, even the most experienced marketer. So when something is working for you, in online marketing, and life in general, leave it alone. Or better yet, find ways to duplicate it. On the other hand, if you find things are not working, or they could be working a little better, find ways to improve and make that happen. When it comes to maintaining zeal for online marketing, even in the face of adversity, here are five helpful ways.
- READ POSTS AND OTHER INFORMATION WRITTEN BY NEWBIES
This will help you find answers to questions and solutions to answers that others like you are experiencing. Even when a problem or challenge is stated, and no solution discussed, there is something about knowing you’re not alone in your dilemma, that makes it more bearable. You may also find some ideals on places to go to continue to seek a remedy.
NOTE: While we can be very encouraging to one another, it can also have the REVERSE AFFECT if you are not careful. There are some individuals who get, or have gotten so discouraged, that rather than uplift you, they may begin to tear you down (in your spirit). They have allowed the negative attitude to set in, and now they are infecting others with it. You can usually tell when you read something, whether or not it has a positive or negative tone. Stay away from negativity, and don’t allow yourself to be pulled in this direction.
- KEEP A LIST OF THE NEW MARKETING FACTS AND CONCEPTS THAT YOU LEARN EVERYDAY
Do not make it so detailed that you feel like it is a chore you end up dreading to do. Just jot down the basic points about what you learned, in one or two phrases or sentences. You can later organize, even alphabetize them for quick reference.
- WHEN YOU READ SOMETHING THAT PARTICULARLY INSPIRES YOU, POST IT SOMEWHERE THAT IT IS ALWAYS VISIBLE.
Just like affirmations work best when we create a visual, and post them where we can constantly be reminded and uplifted, do the same with marketing points and concepts that especially appeal to you.
- POST A COMMENT AND THANK SOMEONE THAT SHARED NEEDED INFORMATION, ADVICE, OR INSPIRATION ON A PARTICULAR TOPIC
We all want encouragement, and need to stay motivated. Chances are, so does the person that wrote the information that you are so grateful to have found. Leave them a little comment, and let them know you appreciate what they shared. It does not have to be a long drawn out post, just a few words of thanks will do just fine. (While this is not your objective, you may even receive some marketing advantages by establishing this rapport)
- PROVIDE A LINK TO BENEFICIAL INFORMATION THAT YOU BELIEVE WILL HELP YOUR OWN READERS
Here again, this is done to show appreciation for the information, and to share that information with others. Your objective in doing this is not for a link exchange, but that is one of the advantageous that may result from linking to a great source of information.
