A glimpse into the world of skateboard basics

Main Components of Skateboard:

Skateboarding have been one of the most extreme outdoor sports that is a rage among youngsters and kids. A skateboard is made up of three main components: a deck, trucks and wheels. The deck is most important constituent of the board. The deck is the part of the board that you stand on. The standard deck that is built in the market today has an up turned nose and tail, and a concave shape right in the middle. The comfort that the skateboarder has is very important, these features gives the person greater control over how the board moves when doing tricks. Not all skateboard decks are same, the ones that are available vary in width.

Matter of Personal Choice:

The choice depends on what kind of skating you want to do. Typically by default, wider boards are preferred for vert skating and narrower boards are used on the street. It is entirely dependent on personal choice. What skateboards are made of is of prime importance to the quality of ride you are going to have.

Skateboard Decks

Let's take a quick look at how skateboard decks are made:

  1. Firstly the boards are mainly made of maple wood, which is polished down to very thin layers called veneers.
  2. All the veneers are again taken and laminated in a single piece with a strong adhesive, the entire process is machine operated as manually the effects are not going to last long.
  3. Next, the veneers get glued together and placed into a mold.
  4. Once in the mold, a hydraulic press compresses the layers to form the nose, tail and concave shape to the deck.
  5. The board is again passed thorugh a rigorous test of sustainability and resistance, many major companies in the trade have their boards run over by cars to ensure the boards capacity to load.
  6. Finally the shape, or outline (also known as the "plan" form) of the deck is cut with a band saw. The holes for trucks are drilled and the edges are sanded.
  7. The decks are primarily used for outdoor usage and hence the deck is sprayed with a sealant that is going to act as a protective shield against all moisture and dampness. An ideal example is a berra devils rain deck that fits all your needs for extreme fun.
  8. A mundane and plain looking board is never attractive it requires you to have a picture, a logo or a graphic. Hence graphics are added through a screen printing process.

A skateboard deck is slick and hard to stay on while riding. To remedy that, skateboarders cover the top of their boards with special sheets of sand paper bought in skate shops, called grip tape.

Trucks are the T-shaped axles attached to the front and rear of the board.A sport is no sport without physical exercise, the skateboarders get immense fun when they have the ability to perform many tricks on the board. The wheels will help you in turning the way you want it to, the wheels are made of rubber that comes in many shapes and thickness.

Make a wise choice in choosing the skateboard that lasts in course of time and makes sports fun.
