The Wall Street Journal is the world's leading business publication. At WSJ.com, users can access business news online as well as personal finance news. WSJ Online offers premium content which is accessible in its full entirety with a paid subscription. Non-subscribers are only shown a short summary of the full stories.
In November 2007, WSJ Online announced a partnership with Digg.com. Digg users who follow the links to WSJ Online articles submitted to Digg are now given full access to the articles.
To read a WSJ Online story in its entirety without a subscription, you can either search for the story on Digg and follow the link or you can follow the steps below which allow you to access premium content on WSJ Online without having to go through Digg.
Step 1. Get Firefox.
If you are already using Firefox browser, skip to Step 2. If you don't have Firefox installed, you can download it from here.
Step 2. Install Extension
Once you have Firefox installed, you will need an extension to spoof your referrer and change it to Digg.com so that you appear to be a visitor coming from Digg.com to WSJ Online, without having to actually visit Digg. Download and install the RefControl Firefox extension.
Step 3. Configure RefControl
After installing RefControl, you will see RefControl display on your browser status bar. Right-click on it and select options. Add a new site "online.wsj.com". Select custom action and input "digg.com".
Now you can visit WSJ.com and read their full articles for free.
