The ultimate credit goal is to reach an 800 credit score and be able to maintain it. Everybody wants good credit. Obtaining perfect credit requires work. Credit is purchasing power. Here are a few tips to help you achieve an 800 credit score and to maintain it once you are there:

*Don't make any late payments

*Avoid bankruptcies and judgments

*Have only 2 major credit cards (Visa, MC, Amex)

*Have only 2 store or gas credit cards

*Keep credit card balances to 15% or less

*Have both a savings AND a checking account

*Be a homeowner and have a mortgage

These are just a few ways to get that 800 credit score. Some of the things are obvious such as avoiding bankruptcies and making payments on time, but did you know you should limit your major credit cards to 2?
