SystemSkins Skins

Although the Xbox 360 may be second in this console wars right now, It's still my favorite one. Of course that's just my personal preference but I do also own a PS3 and Wii console. There's one flaw with all these consoles that no one ever brings up and that is the lack of customization of the cover or case. I first noticed this when I brought home my Xbox 360 and realized how boring the plain white and chrome design was for me. That's when I did some research online to see how I could spruce up my console and discovered skins. Xbox 360 skins are vinyl decals or "stickers" that you can just peel and paste right on your Xbox 360's case. Applying these vinyl decals, or skins as they are called, is a lot easier then taking apart your whole case and painting it. I had a little trouble when I applied my first skin to my 360 so I wanted to write my own guide that anyone can follow to put on their decals correctly.

Where To Find Skins For Xbox 360

You can find skins for xbox 360 in many different places. Some department stores like Walmart or Target will carry them and many local gaming stores like Gamestop and will sell you xbox 360 skins. There are also shops online that sell these Xbox 360 vinyl stickers like EBGames.com or Amazon.com. You can also try specialty stores that deal only in skins for different personal electronics like laptops, iPods, mp3 players, and video game consoles.

How To Apply Xbox 360 Skins

Putting on skins for the Xbox 360 is a simple process. You just need a few items and little patience to get things right. You will need:

  1. Rubbing alcohol
  2. Damp rag or paper towel
  3. Towel to dry it off with

Step 1. Clean Your Xbox 360

The first thing you have to do is clean the outside of your console with a little rubbing alcohol and a damp rag or paper towel. Make sure you get all the sides and especially the bottom. You want to do this so there is no dust under the skin when you go to apply it. This will make sure it won't peel off on you. When you get all of that cleaned off, remove the faceplate and clean all the sides. You will have to take it off for the next step anyway.

Step 2. Applying the Skin

Xbox 360 skins come in three pieces: the top, the bottom, and the faceplate. Let's start with the top. Remove the skin from the backing and the replace it leaving a small edge so we can correctly line up the edge. Take your time and get it lined up then apply some pressure and seal off the edge. Now fold it back and remove the backing, then smooth it down over the case. Rinse and repeat for the bottom. When you're ready for the faceplate (you did take it off in the last step didn't you?), take the backing completely off the faceplate skin and line up the DVD slot and power button holes correctly and then apply pressure and smooth it down. Make sure you get the edges around the holes in the skin. Replace the faceplate and now you're done! Congratulations you have a stylish Xbox 360 and can be the envy of all your friends.

So there you have it. I hope this guide is easy to follow and that I helped someone in the process. I also included a video here if you need more instruction. Thanks for reading!
