Be careful before you follow this model if you are trying to sell hosting to businesses.

There are limits to server capacity and memory. Performance of websites fall dramatically when these are approached.

I've tested companies offering these sort of packages.

One of them had several thousand domains hosted on the server. Performance of database driven sites (ie Wordpress) was abysmal. Server loads were always in the 20's and 30's. (But it was cheap.)

Admin functions were abysmally S-L-O-W.It took over a minute to create a new hosting account on this server. On the lightly loaded dedicated server I use for my business clients the same function takes about 1 second.

Be aware that your hosting business will be totally reliant on the service and support staff of the company you go with.

If you are going to be a private label reseller, be aware that when the server goes down, or something is slow, or anything goes wrong, the people to whom you have sold hosting will be relying on YOU for support, information, and help.

Are you ready for this?

Before you decide on any company to resell for, pay a visit to http://webhostingtalk.com and do a search for the company concerned.

Read the posts. Get a "feel" of the company concerned.

The web hosting inddustry is littered with the carcases of those who had no idea about what they are doing. Generally, they pop up, offer a great deal, then disappear in a month or two when they realise that there's real work needed to provide a hosting service.

If you want to become a host, at least start off by giving accounts to your friends and family first, until you learn what you're doing. This will also give you a chance to judge the quality of service you receive from your upline company.

Good Luck,

Eric G.

Nice hub and as usual Erics 'two-cents' is worth considerably more. Does bring up one idea in my mind though.... If you find a webhost who does not have good customer service but otherwise has good hosting practices, you can resell on that point. Be the customer service. Make yourself available by any and all means to your customer base and forge links with the techs at your server providers. if your going to be a middle-man sing for your supper.

Making great sense to me, @Eric. Totally agreed, TOS has to be read before signing for anything, otherwise your business will be ruined if anything happens.

Great hub and seo tool suggestions

@cheap vps, your suggestion about taking time to read terms of service(TOS) of any product or service is very crucial before signing for anything and that will always help anyone who did to function better on the same.

Thanks and welcome.
