There are several different versions of "reiki" available which all have their particular addions as teachers have added their own personal experience.

The original system of reiki healing comes from japan and originated with Mikao Usui.

There are several people in the UK who are teaching a system based on the original notebooks and progression used by Usui.If you are selecting a teacher it would be wise to begin with the basics and then develop an understanding of the context in which reiki was developed.

The system that I was taught is the TeraMai system of natural healing - which includes reiki and has several major additions.The system has allowed me to progress to a high level in healing and opened me up to psychic abilities which I have had since I was a child.

If you wish to develop intuition and psychic insight then this system can provide a good framework.

The traditional way to become a reikimaster in Japan is a series of empowerments known as reiju.

I personally find it very satisfying to teach in this way although it does demand a committment of time from the student which some may find difficult in todays modern world.

The reiju process given as a weekly empowerrment also enables an additional period of support to students which is not possible in the western reiki initiation format of a 2 day weekend workshop.
