“Do you aspire to become a good songwriter or singer? Have problems trying to get enough musical ideas to compose songs? Do feel you haven't gotten to that of satisfactory yet on song writing and singing? A lot, of people like you are asking same question and even more. Now the thing is “how do become a good and better songwriter? We’ll get to that.

Yes! In this special edition, I will be sharing helpful tips and ways through which I write my songs which will be of immense interest to you. First of all, songwriting is not just creating a song or a melody. But creating a message that you want to convey or diffuse to your audience. And for you or us to be able to create or write a song we need INSPIRATION. Did I just say INSPIRATION? Yes! INSPIRATION we need.

If you try writing a song without being inspired you bond to be short of ideas to create the song as a result you start forcing the message which is not good for you and the song and as a songwriter or artiste. Now the question is; how do I get inspired? When is the convenient time to write a song? What if I’m not in the mood to write a song? Can I write anytime I pleased even when I don’t have enough ideas? Oh oh! i just want to create a hook.

Yes! You can write a song anytime you want, absolutely. And about being inspired, inspiration can be drawn from different sources; the kind of environment you live in, the kind of friends you have? Your attitude, your place of work, your school, and the songs you hear on radio and TV, stories, novel and movies and your personal experiences, just named them.

Like I said earlier, you are not just writing a song but creating a message and every message is influenced or inspired by a situation whether good, bad or worse. You can decide to write about the first time you had a crush of a girl, or one of your naughtiest deed or even about merriment or even an intimate encounter you had maybe sometime ago. why not? Ofcourse, Yes!.

Here’s a Scenario, you saw on the TV news brutal killings of each other by fellow men or untimely passing away of a gem. It was so tragic and you starting wondering why such things happens? Why do good go too quickly? A lot of thoughts with the questions "why?" starting running in your head and you decide to create something of it.

You can start by saying, how you saw on the news brutal killing of each other by fellow men and couldn’t comprehend why? So you start wondering if the world is coming to an end. Why do good people die you young and evil live long. Why is everything going wrong under the sun? I wish there is something you can do to stop it. In short that could be your chorus I wish I could change the world; I wish.

Then in the second verse you explain how you see love and peace as the best way to put an end to all the killings and hate. No more violence, no more pretence, no more evil conscience. You have to do is to keep a topic and elaborate on it in a simple and understanding structure. that way you keep your audiences always in mood and expecting more.

You can also try one of your favorite songs during songwriting. This is what you do; First you get really familiar with song lyrics and lines. how many lines? how is the hook or refrain? Then you think of a topic where you are more equip with ideas. Okay, then you start replacing each line of the song with your own words. At end, you sing the lines to yourself. One thing to note about songs is that it might sound kind of absurd or uninteresting at first listening after which later on becomes history because you have become so familiar with it.

Your story in your own lyrics can be true, imaginary or fictitious. The way you present it is what matters distinctively. You can also decide to write about something euphoric and funny. Anything wrong about that? No! But you must have the right ideas and elaborate brilliantly on it so you keep your listeners hungry for more.
