Have you ever dreamed of becoming a model? I guess it’s every girl’s dream to be one of those models sashaying down the runway of a Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Every time we open magazines and we watch ads on television, we see gorgeous women who are endorsing all sorts’ consumer products. All that Glitz n’ Glamour is not the only reason why girls of all ages would want to be a model. There are several types of models for different niche that they have to cater to. If you can’t fit in one category, there are also other categories that you might fit in. Being tall is not the only requirement that you need in order to become a model. There will be a certain category where you can fit and maybe excel in.

Let's explore below in greater detail the different types of models:

Fashion Models

Fashion models are the ones who specifically cater to the Fashion Industry. These models are the ones that wear designer clothes and accessories. Models who want to belong in this category should at least be 5’10 and stick thin. Models in this category range from being beautiful to exotic or distinctive.
• Runway – these are the models who sashay down the runway or catwalk to promote and present clothes to possible buyers. These are the models that you usually see in Fashion Shows.
• Catalog – models are used to showcase a designer or company’s clothing line in their publication.
• Editorial – this is one kind of print modeling for high fashion magazines. These editorials are usually more edgy and trendy because they show upcoming styles.
• Fitting – this type of model are like the live mannequins of designers. They usually have the body proportion and size that matches the criteria of a certain designer or brand of clothing.

Commercial Print Models

Print Models are those who are hired to advertise products, services and companies. In this category of modeling, Height and Weight is not an issue because what’s important in this area of modeling is the proportion of your face and body. Of course you must also be attractive and can act of play different characters.
• Swimsuit – models that belong to this category are more curvaceous than the usual fashion models that you see. You should be toned but not muscular in order to fit in this category.
• Fitness – these models require appear in health and fitness products so you must have a well toned figure or even muscular to be able to fit the advertisement that you are going to endorse.
• Lingerie – being a lingerie model requires a well proportioned body and great skin. This usually involves modeling for lingerie or bra and panties.
• Glamour – models in this category are the ones that can model for both lingerie and swimwear. In order to belong to this category, you must have a voluptuous body and a really beautiful face.

Body Parts Models

When vying for this category, beauty of face is not necessary. But other parts of the body should be really beautiful because this will be the main focus of an advertisement.
• Hair – if you have really gorgeous long shiny hair then this is the category for you. Models on this area are used for hair product advertisements, hair shows and magazines showcasing different hairstyles.
• Legs – in order to be a leg model, you should have long shapely legs without veins or muscles. These models are used for any advertisement that would require a good image of legs.
• Hands – hand models have really long, soft, smooth, gorgeous hands. Nails are also important in this category because models in this category are used in jewelry ads, nail polish and any image that would require a gorgeous pair of photogenic hands.

If you fit in any of these categories then modeling is the perfect job for you. Should you not fit in these categories at least now you have an idea of what these categories are looking for. You can try to work out to be able to achieve a certain weight or body proportion that would allow you to become a model.

 Although modeling can be an illustrious job, there are also certain things that you have to look out for. Since lots of teens, men and women who want to become a model, there are also people who would take advantage of that dream. Always remember that you don’t have to shell out money in order to get accepted in a job. May it be in a form of money or even a sexual act, bribing is not an option for you to be able to become a successful model. Also, you don’t have to remove your clothes to become a model unless you are auditioning for a nude shoot or something. So don’t be carried away with these scams with the hope that by doing what these people want, you will become a model.
