Proper brushing when you have braces is very important. If you do not brush well then when you get your braces off there is potential for yellow spots and decay along your teeth. If you want you or your child to prevent this then you need to listen up.
We have a short list of 3 recommendations that will help you to keep your teeth cleaner and healthier while you have braces. After reading this article please scroll down and check out our video about brushing your teeth with braces.
In order to keep your teeth properly cared for while having braces you should brush your teeth 3 times each day, floss each day, and use mouthwas/ a flouride rinse. Other supplemental things include using a water pik.
Brushing 3 times is very important because food can get stuff in between those braces. It is also very important to make sure your brush around your braces brackets very well.
Flossing is very important again because food can get stuck in your braces. It is absolutely imperative that you floss at least once a day.
Finally, using a flouride or mouthwash is also very important. Using it will help you to eliminate any left over bacteria or germs that you didn't get rid of with brushing.
Using a water pik to help spray away food and bacteria that is along the gum line can also help out a lot. A water pik is an amazing tool that should really be used by people daily no matter if they have braces or not.
Another note about getting braces... If you want to get an electric toothbrush like and Oral-B or Sonicare Toothbrush it could help out a ton with brushing. The only issue is you need to be sure that you brush lightly so as to not break or damage your braces. Most orthodontist actually recommend that people with braces use an electronic toothbrush its just that they are worried that little childern will brush to hard with them and break their braces.

Great tips for brushing. Is there any videos on the platypus flosser? My dentist gave me some and it works perfectly.
