If you want to build a computer, than read every single word of this message if you want to save a lot of money.

If you’re looking to build a computer, than you realize there are a lot of options when it comes to what processor you want to choose. Pick up any computer magazine and you’ll notice a lot of people who recommend the latest and greatest processors that can do four things at a time.

But let’s get real. There are maybe 1% of the population who will actually use all 4 cores of a quad-core processor. If you’re playing a game, emailing someone, downloading a file, and performing a virus scan, then you might need one. But for the most part, you don’t really need a quad core processor if you are looking to build a computer.

You see, a decent dual-core processor is what you need if you’re looking to build a computer. Here is a decent profile of someone who can just get by with a decent dual-core processor:

1) If you are just running some basic programs like Microsoft Word and doing some word processing.

2) If you follow your finances in Quicken and just want your computer to follow along with your bank statements

3) If you just surf the internet for news and the occasional Youtube video

4) If you download the occasional file and listen to a lot of music…

..Then you do not need a quad-core processor.

The best part is you can save a LOT of money. It takes some cost to build a computer and if you decide to get the greatest motherboard and processor in the world, then you’re going to be spending a lot of money. Unless you’re a hardcore gamer, you don’t really need all the horsepower a quad-core provides.

Of course, one of these days, it’s going to be to the point that you NEED a quad core…but that’s 5 years or so down the road. Like people would never consider using a single-core processor even for basic tasks.

But the key to building a computer is buying the components that will last you NOW…not 6 months from now. There is absolutely no way you can “future-proof” your computer—the next newest thing is going to come out 6 months from how and that fancy motherboard is going to be hopelessly obsolete.

In conclusion, if you’re looking to build a computer, it’s a good idea just to stick with a dual-core processor. It will be enough for 98$ of your computing needs. If you’re looking for more information on how you can build a computer on the cheap, then go to: Build A Computer Fast.
