How To Build A Luxury Minecraft House
A basic shelter can easily be made in Minecraft simply by hacking one's way into the earth or the side of a mountain, but what do you do if you want a little more luxury? This guide takes you through the process of crafting and creating a home that really feels like home.
How To Craft Windows
Windows make your shelter a home, or rather, they make your shelter something you can see out of without risking your precious neck to do so. Windows are made out of glass, which is very easily crafted by putting wood or coal in your furnace along with some sand.
How To Craft Balconies
Balconies are easily made simply by extending out a level of the house and adding fence around the sides so you can't jump off or accidentally fall off. Fence is crafted by placing sticks in the lower 2/3rds of the crafting grid.
How To Craft Paintings
Once one starts getting a little more comfortable in one's home, one can start making décor. There are two main types of décor currently available in the game, book cases and paintings. Paintings are simply crafted in the 3x3 grid by placing one block of wool (gathered by shearing sheep by hitting them but once) in the center of the grid and surrounding it with sticks. This generates one painting out of a number of paintings (around 27 at the time of writing.) You never know what painting you have until you place it on the wall, which is fun.

How To Craft Bookshelves
Bookshelves are an item of décor that can also be used as the basis for stairs. They are crafted by putting three books along the center line of the 3x3 grid and surrounding them on both sides with wooden planks. Books themselves are created by placing three pieces of paper vertically in the 3x3 crafting grid, and paper is created by placing three pieces of papyrus horizontally in the crafting grid.To make a bookshelf, you therefore need nine pieces of paper, which means you need 27 pieces of papyrus. You'll notice that my beachside home has a little papyrus reed farm around it, which not only looks nice, but provides me with all the paper I could possibly ever want. Papyrus is easily grown on blocks of earth that are directly adjacent (next to) water.
How To Craft Jukeboxes
Jukeboxes
play records dropped by creepers. They require diamond, which I haven't
found yet, so I can't illustrate them as prettily as I would like, but
they are simply crafted by taking a piece of diamond, putting it in the
center of your crafting grid and surrounding it with wood blocks.
Records are not easy to obtain, as they are only dropped either when a
creeper is killed by a skeleton arrow, which apparently requires having
a skeleton fire at you whilst a creeper is on the other side of
you.Records are also occasionally found in chests in dungeons.
