I have been working on computer for over fifteen years. I have always been a hands on type of person. When my first computer was having problem, I talked to some of my techie friends. They walkd me through fixing my computer. He then proceeded on showing me how he builds computers. The computer he built were significantly lower than the cost of compatible new ones. He showed me the basics of building computers.

One of the best part I like about this is that a lot of people already have computer systems, but they are starting to age a little and they woujld like some newer faster systems.or components. With pc compatible style computers, you can easily upgrade only the part that you want to with new pc compatible products.

For an example, you have a 1.6 Mhz single core processor, with a pc compatible components, you can upgrade the computer by buying only the motherboard, cpu, cooling fan and memory and reuse your other old parts. And don't forget, you already have a licensed copy of the operating system, so this can be reinstalled and not purchased. This many times can be done for as low as two hundred dollars.

I mention pc compatible because some manufactures of brand name computers do not make some of their computer parts, such as motherboards and computer cases compatible to other to pc compatible style motherboards and cases. If you own one of these types system, to upgrade you basically have to buy a new computer.

I have found Tiger Direct to have great prices on pc compatible components.  They obtain large unit discounts and discontinued units, and pass the savings on to their customers.
