Different Types of Sexy Lingerie to Suit All Tastes

There are different types of sexy lingerie to enjoy and make you feel good. Lingerie has many purposes. It can be used as sleepwear, undergarments, primary clothing for specific occasions such as going to a club, and, of course, for intimate purposes. Regardless of your reasons for wearing sexy lingerie, are you aware that there is more than one kind of lingerie you can make part of your wardrobe?

The following is a list and brief explanation of the most popular and common under- and outerwear items:

Thong/G-String – For those women who want to feel daring, than the thong or g-string are the sexy lingerie for you. While they have a similar T-shape, a thong features a little more material in the front and back, while a g-string has only a thin V-shape strip to cover the front, and a string that extends from the gusset back and up to the waist band or string. Both are meant to prevent panty lines.

Garter belt and Stockings – A garter belt is a small garment that wraps around the hips and features four straps; one for the front and back of each leg to hold up stockings.

Corset – Typically worn underneath clothing, the corset is somewhat similar to the bustier except that it rests just under the bust and extends over the hips. Some corsets are heavily boned and usually have hooks in the front or the back. A corset is designed to draw in your torso so you have a small waist but wide hips and breasts.

Bustier – A bustier is a snug-fitting sexy lingerie garment that features cups for the breasts and some boning for the torso. It covers the breasts and extends to the ribs or waist. It is designed to push up a woman’s bust by tightening the upper midriff, forcing the breasts up. A bustier can be strapless or have straps, and may be worn underneath a garment or as outerwear.

Camisole – This is a sexy undershirt that can be worn under a thin fancy blouse, or can compliment a pantsuit.

Teddy – A sexy one piece bodysuit-shaped garment that commonly has a thong back and straps that slip easily from the shoulders instead of opening at the gusset.

Baby Doll – A two piece outfit that consist of a short empire waist dress-like top that is fitted to the bust, but flows loosely to just above or below the buttocks, and underwear bottoms (I.E. thong, g-string, bikini panties, boy shorts, etc.)

Now that you are aware of all the different types of sexy lingerie on the market, keep in mind that most are available in different materials, patterns and colors. You can shop and add new styles of decorative under and outer garments to your favorites and expand your lingerie wardrobe.

Important Tips for Men on Buying Sexy Lingerie

It's certainly no secret to many men that women are rather complex, interesting creatures, and most will soon find out that the lingerie they wear is no different. With numbers, letters, measurements, and varying fabrics, styles, and colors to choose from, it's no wonder most men have no idea where to begin when buying sexy lingerie for the special woman in their life.

Luckily, shopping for and then finding the absolute perfect piece of lingerie doesn't really have to be looked upon as rocket science. Taking the time to learn before you shop, and putting in some real effort are the best ways to start your quest for finding her something you'll both love and enjoy.

Remember Who It's For

The first mistake most men make when buying sexy lingerie is that they somehow forget who they're shopping for, keeping their own tastes and wants in mind instead of hers. She's the one who will be wearing it, while it's true that it may be for your benefit, it's still hers and you should keep that in the forefront of your mind when browsing. Unless she's expressed a distinct interest in crotch-less, leather and lace panties, keep looking until you've found something more her speed.

Size Does Matter!

DO NOT, under any circumstances, attempt to guess the correct size she will need in any type of sexy lingerie. Never blindly try to purchase lingerie or sexy sleepwear, because unlike men, the majority of women do not fall neatly into the S, M, and L size categories. When the opportunity arises, take a peek into her bra and panties drawer, writing down all the sizes and letters you see on the labels. While you're in there, you also might as well make a note of any special colors or fabrics that she seems to be extra fond of.

What to Avoid

Always avoid items with words such as "control" or "reducing" or "enhancing" on the label as these may send the wrong message, and usually aren't the sexiest types of lingerie either. Also, unless you're absolutely sure she'll be thrilled and is into that particular type of lingerie, you'll want to steer clear of the overtly kinky stuff, which often has the tendency to look gaudy.

More Important Tips to Remember When Buying Sexy Lingerie

- Window Shop Off and Online: Besides visiting the stores to get a feel for the different fabrics, remember the internet is an excellent resource for finding exquisite lingerie and countless interesting gift ideas, as well as helpful reviews and recommendations.

- Hold Onto the Receipt: While many items cannot be returned due to health laws and restrictions, whether purchased online or at a brick-and-mortar retailer, some types of lingerie can be returned for something else, or for a refund, or store credit.

- Presentation Counts: If you aren't the most adept when it comes to wrapping presents, or at least wrapping them neatly, most retailers provide gift wrapping services for a small, extra charge that's well worth the extra cost. If you're feeling creative, of course you can always pick out the gift wrap and ribbons, or the decorative bag and tissue paper to dress up the lingerie on your own.
