How To Care For Your Flat Panel LCD TV Screen
61Some people think that when it comes to caring for your flat panel LCD TV screen, that it is the same as caring for the normal CRT television. Well, there are a few people that do not actually care what they use to clean their LCD screen, as long as it gets done and it looks clean. They forget about all the scratches they leave behind. These scratches might not appear the first few times after cleaning, but over time you will notice that what used to be the attraction in your living room has now become the complete opposite. Take the time to read this and get the know-how, and also know that looking after your flat panel TV screen is not so simple.
A
large percentage of the LCD screens are made up of plastic-like materials, and
we all know what happens to plastic. It can become gouged and scratched, even
by a fingernail. Some of the materials you are going to be using can be found
in your home. If not, they are not a pain in the neck to get your hands on. You
will need:
Isopropyl alcohol (many people would know this as rubbing alcohol)
Soft-cloth (important that it is lint-free)
Distilled water (you can find this in stores. Just purchase bottled water, and
make sure it is distilled.)
Mix 50 percent rubbing alcohol into about two parts distilled water. Now find
an empty spray bottle, preferably a new one, and insert the contents of
cleaning solution into the bottle. A few spray bottles spray a mist, and this
is what you are looking for. You get an even amount and a good coverage every
time. Bottles that spray a stream tend to mess all over the show. If you can
control it, then use any spray bottle.
Spray
the solution onto your lint-free cloth. Using a T-shirt or micro fiber cloths
would do the job perfectly. Using large cloths will guarantee a good working
space. This way you will not leave streaks behind from applying over the
required amount of pressure to the screen.
Using circular motions, gently wipe the LCD TV screen. Your movements must be
consistent at all times. It is important that the pressure is even throughout
the process and that you are not pushing too hard. Also make sure that your
fingernails and jewelry are not coming into contact with the screen.
You can also pick up a solution of distilled water and alcohol at your local
computer store, but it is important that you make sure that the solution does
not contain other hard metals and harmful chemicals. Ethylene glycol, which is
one of the harmful chemicals found in many cleaning solutions, might be
harmless against CRT screens and other glass captions, but it is not
recommended for flat panel LCD TV screens.
As you can see, caring for your LCD TV screen is something that should be noted
if you want it to last longer and keep that attractive look in your living
room.
