How To Convert to Christianity

Converting from one religion (or no religion at all) to another is a personal, spiritual decision. Choosing to become a Christian is a matter of faith. Faith in the God of the Bible and in Jesus Christ. If you have come to a point where you want to choose Christianity, here is what to do.
1. First of all, realize that becoming a Christian is not simply about joining a church. Christianity is a personal faith and a relationship with God, not a membership.
2. Realize that God loves you. However, you are separated from God because no matter how good of a person you are, you still do wrong things. God calls this sin, and it separates you from him.
3. This sin and separation will keep you from having a relationship with God. By yourself, there is nothing you can do to escape this. You can't be perfect no matter how hard you try.
4. Because God loves you, he wants a relationship with you, so he made a way. He sent Jesus Christ to die for your sins. The Bible says that "while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Christ didn't die for the good people, because no one can be good enough. He died for all sinners, especially you.
5. Through the sacrifice of Jesus and through his resurrection from the dead, he paid the price for your sins. Those who believe in Jesus will never have their sins counted against them by God.
6. If you believe that God loves you; if you believe that he wants a relationship with you; if you believe that you are a sinner and Jesus died for those sins, there is only one more thing you need to do - confess this all to God.
The Bible says, "If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
7. Pray a prayer something like this, "God, thank your for loving me. I know I am a sinner, and I believe that you sent Jesus to take the place for my sins. I accept the sacrifice that he made on my behalf. Please forgive my sins and come into my life."
8. If you have prayed that prayer, find another Christian to share your new faith with. Ask that person to help you to further understand who God is and how he can make a difference in your life.

You have a wonderfully profound understanding of the characteristics of God and His relationship with Jesus Christ. You also explain very well the process of utilizing the atonement in ones life. I love your definition of how to become a Christian. Your advice is marvelous. If I could add only one more item to the list it would be, do as he commands. I think obedience is part of that great process as well as sacrifice. When we sacrifice our will, or submit to His, and do as he instructs through the spirit and His word then we have claim to all the blessings He has to offer. Again, thank you for your wonderful HUB.
