How To Cook A Hard Boiled Egg

Cooking Hard Boiled Eggs

You want to start by placing your eggs in a pot and cover a couple of inches above the eggs with cold water. Salt the water well to prevent the eggs from cracking. Bring your pot to a boil and reduce the heat slightly to a low boil. For hard boiled eggs be sure that you allow your eggs to boil for at least 10 minutes after they have come to a boil.

Now once you have boiled your eggs have a large bowl ready and strain the water away. Add your eggs gently to the bowl and cover well with crushed or cubed ice being sure to cover all your eggs well.

Let set at least 20 minutes draining water away and adding more ice as needed. Eggs cooled in this way will keep yellow yolks and won't turn dark or be discolored. Another really great thing is that the shells should almost fall off of eggs cooled this way and you will have the best Hard Boiled Eggs ever.

You will need to refrigerate your hard boiled eggs at once if your not going to be using the hard boiled eggs right away.

In answer to your question, what came first the chicken or the egg!!! I think it must have been the egg because that is where the baby chick would hatch out of and it could be the first one changed by evolution!!!!! I had to leave a remark because it reminded me of the time when i took my husband to be home to meet my mum and dad. She took one look at him and said in a horrified voice. YOU CAN'T MARRY HER SHE CAN'T EVEN COOK AN EGG!! wow, shame you were'nt around then, at least I would have backup!! cheers Nell

So I learned a neat little trick that works every time! Put the eggs in the water and salt like you have stated. Then, once they have come to a boil, turn off the stove (saves the gas or electric bill), cover the pot with a lid, and let the eggs sit there for exactly 15 minutes. Done! The shells come right off every time!
