Part 1: Pick Your Topic

Let me preface this Hub by saying that the first couple of times you do these steps it may feel awkward - like wearing that new pair of cheap shoes. But the more you wear those shoes, the more comfortable they become.

Same as with these steps. The more often you follow these steps, the more comfortable they will become.

Plus you will also be able to then use these steps as more of a guide rather than just a strict method of step 1, then step 2 and so on.

First thing is to choose a topic.

Sounds pretty obvious but I just want to make sure everyone is on the same page.

In picking your topic, you can write out a bunch of ideas on several pieces of paper then attach them to a dart board and start throwing darts.

Now this is a great way to exercise your imagination and your throwing arm, however it is not a great way to choose the topic of your next money making product.

Instead, here are a couple of ideas that will work better:

1. Pick something you are familiar with or like doing because then you are more willing to do some research if needed. No matter how eager people are to buy a product, you cannot create one that contains any real value if you lack in depth information or inside knowledge about it.

So just slapping together some related PLR content isn't enough. You need to add your personal touch to make it unique and of any real value.

So if you have a deathly fear of heights, writing an eBook on skydiving just won't fly. I just made a punny. :-)

2. Next, your topic should be on something other people will be motivated to spend their hard earned money on.

There are several online tools to help in this department.

a. Ebay has a section called the Pulse . It shows - according to Ebay - some of the most searched for and 'hottest' items at the time you do your search. There are a zillion categories there to choose from as well.

b. Probably the easiest but least reliable, would be to do a simple search on your favorite search engine and see what the top websites are. Are they selling information? What type? For how much? In what format? And how many sites are selling? In this case, the more you find, the better — marketers will not put up site after site for topics that don’t 'show them money'.

c. Another tool that may not be that well known is from the folks at Microsoft. It is call adCenter Labs and they compile a boatload of information from all over the internet and determine that so many purchases were made shortly after a particular, related search for that item was made.

With this info they are able to put a 'probability' number - 0.50 or greater is good - for certain words and phrases, or keywords that people will be willing to, and have in the past, spend money for this item.

I made a short video and posted it here to help show you what I'm talking about. It might take a second to load once you start it. Patience is a virtue.

Now that you have the ground work taken care of & you know what your topic is going to be, its time to:

1. Create your outline - this will help you figure out what PLR content you currently have will work and if you need to get more.

2. Come up with a catchy and descriptive title & Sub title

3. What will the product format be - Video, Audio, eBook - PDF or EXE

4. Use your PLR content to write out your copy - even if you just copy & paste - make sure you make it unique. We will cover this step as well as the others in greater detail in up coming Hubs. Then all you need to do is pretty it up and get a marketing package together.

5. Create a sales page and some cool graphics will help.

6. Create and provide your customers with a 'Rights' page which outlines what rights they will have in reselling your product or not.

There are several other aspects of the finished product that will be covered in those up coming Hubs I mentioned. But for now you have a good starting point of choosing a topic and gathering up some of your PLR content to be used in creating your next masterpiece.

See you in the next Hub.
