If you are an adult and own any property, then creating a will is a must. A will is a legal documents that details how you prefer your estate to be taken cared of when the enivitable comes. Aside from that it must also satisfy the probate law requirements of your particular state. If you don't have a will, you're pretty much giving the keys to your house to the state. If you are concerned about the people you love, you definitely must have a will.

The good news is it's never been easier to create a will, thanks to the internet. It used to be that you need an attorney to create a will. Not anymore. You can create your own with the help of online services.

Do you have your own will?

  • I don't really care.
  • Yes I do.
  • I know it's important but I can't seem to find time to do it.

You can easily create an will online with the help of will creation sites. You will be provided with a series of questions that you will fill out. Just answer the questions about your estate and the site will automatically fill out it's template to generate a will for you. When you're done just print and sign the document. Expect to pay between $50 to $100 for this kind of service.

You can also do it without the help of a will creation website. This would require some research on your part. Different states will have different laws and requirements on what must be included in a will. So what you should do first is check out your state's law website. Google “probate laws” +Your State and you should easily find the information you need. This will tell what to include in your will. Next step would be to search for a “will template” and use it as a guide.

If you're ever in doubt, you can check with your local attorney. Email is best to save time and money.

Now you need to make your will legal.

  1. It must have all the sections required by your state.

  2. Sign the document.

  3. Have a witness sign the document. Having it notarized is a good idea.

There you have it. Now don't waste time. Go ahead and create your will!
