How To Downgrade From Vista to XP

If you bought a computer with Vista program already installed, you can downgrade. Downgrade to XP isn't simple process, but for anyone who need XP or simply doesn't want Vista, here is how it works. Downgrade from Vista Professional or Vista Ultimate to XP Prefesional, which includes the tabletop PC and x64 edition. If you bought Vista from retailer or if your computer came with the Vista home edition, you cannot downgrade.

You will need a copy of the XP Profesional install disk, including the product code, and your Vista registration number. Any copy of XP Professional will do, even one borrowed from a friend. This isn't piranting. Your Vista registration number which came with your computer, allows you to legally use the software.

Before you start any installation, make a backup of all pertinent information, such as pictures, documents, music files and anythink else you don't want to lose. Install procces can vary, but it's likely your hard drive will be reformatted, erasing any data. Also make sure you have a copy of all your hardware drivers too, since these also will need to be reinstalled.

Also make sure you have Microsoft's number. You can get support number by visiting support.Microsoft.com. If you experience problems intalling the software, the computer manufacturer may nothelp you.

Install XP to your computer. Near rhe end of the installation, you will be prompted to register the software. Do not register software online. Instead, opt to register by telephone. When you talk to the costumer service representative, tell them you are downgrading to XP from Vista and give them the Vista registration code. The rep is then supposed to talk you through the rest.
