If you are using hubpages to make money online there are a few things you can do to increase the earning potential of your hubs. Some of these tactics work others do not.

The one tactic to get traffic to your hubs that is guaranteed to work is article marketing. This is by far the most effective way to drive traffic to your website. To do it effectively you have to write informative articles that are 250-500 words and submit them to article directories.

The top article directories have high page rank and authority so by having your articles published on those sites you are able to piggyback off that authority and are able to achieve better rankings easier.

The article directories themselves often have adsense on their site and will make money off your articles as a benefit to publishing them. But the articles will also drive traffic to your website or hubpages, i'll explain how in the next few paragraphs.

When writing articles you need to choose your keyword carefully and choose ones that have low competition. You can do this by using a good keyword research tool that will tell you the daily number of searched You can do this for free with googles adwords keyword tool. It pretty much shows you all the info you need! Try and stick with keywords that have at least 5 daily searches and little to medium competition.

Next write the body of your article. It does not have to be a masterpiece but instead inform the reader about a part of your topic. The key is to not over inform and tell them everything in the article but make them want more so they click your resource box link. I have found that articles around 400 words with paragraphs made up of 2-3 sentences work the best for click through and search engine placing. Also make sure to use your keyword in the title and a few times in the article, but do not over do it.

When you finsih writing your article make sure you write a good resource box. The resource box is basically where you get to sell your web site or hubpage to the reader as an additional source of information. And be sure to use an anchor text link with your keyword and the standard http://www.yoursitename.com style link.

The keyword link will help with search engine ranking and the standard link is there in case someone republishes your article with inactive links, at least people can see your site name and type it into their browser!

For example if you wrote a hub on gardening and then wrote a article about a type of garden flower your resource box could look like this

That is your basic resource box. And when written correctly it can drive alot of traffic to your sites or hubs.

The hardest part for many people is actually writing the articles.
