Using an HD Flip Camera to increase the traffic on your blog

Video is one of the easiest ways to drive traffic to your blog or maybe even your Hub Page and you should consider taking advantage of this. I can't totally speak about the Hub Page traffic because I just haven't published enough Hubs yet, but I will eventually.

Writing articles with good solid content is not always the easiest thing to do as I'm sure that most of you will vouch for. It's very time consuming and research intensive. You write and you post links and you edit, da da da da...it takes a while right? There are just times when I don't feel like writing so much, so what do I do? When I'm having a little writers block or the mood hasn't hit me, here's what I do.

I grab my little HD Flip Camera and shoot a short video. There are times when I can run my mouth on video and everything just flows. It feels as if I'm connecting directly with my readers and it gives them a chance to get to know me. I tend to gravitate toward bloggers who either video blog a lot or occasionally. It feels like I get to know them a little more personally.

There is always a risk when you put yourself on camera also. You may actually turn people off and they decide they don't like you. That's a risk I'm willing to take. If you don't like me, then so be it. If you find that you do like me and my personality, well my video is a good idea.

Let's get back to traffic. My HD Flip Camera of choice is the Kodak Zi6. I love this little camera because it's small, quick and easy. It's about the same size as a Blackberry but just a little larger. You can easily carry it anywhere you go and grab it in a moments notice and shoot high quality HD video. I actually think it's quicker than trying to do a cell phone video and the quality is much better.

I can shoot a 2 minute video and upload it to YouTube. It takes about 15 minutes to upload it and for YouTube to do all of their encoding and conversions. In 15 minutes my video is viewable by every person on the face of the earth who has internet access and YouTube access. This just totally blows my mind when I actually start to think about it. It really is no different than your local TV station and probably better. You can publish news events to the world long before the networks do.

On YouTube, there is a description box that will allow you to fill out a description of the video along with a hyperlink to your web site or any site you choose. You also have the ability to "tag" your videos to make them easier to find with relevant searches. It is stated now that YouTube is the #2 search engine next to Google. These links are extremely important to the traffic on your web site.

I check my stats regularly and YouTube among all the other video hosting sites, regularly send my sites search engine traffic. It's a great tool and you should be using it also. A short 2-minute video will do wonders for the traffic on your blog. Sometimes it much easier to do the video rather than write long articles.

If you decide to produce videos for your site, don't get all caught up thinking that you don't have the ability or that the quality is just not that good. Just do it a few times until you get the hang of it. It gets a little easier each time you try it. Some of the crappiest videos I've ever seen were low quality and had bad audio. You look down at the number of views and many have topped over 1 million. It's unbelievable what may go viral on YouTube. You may make the next viral video of your crazy dog running around in your backyard.

I recommend that you use a high capacity memory card with your camera also. At least 8 gigs. You can shoot video forever with 8 gigs of storage. You do not want to run out of memory just at the point of shooting a crucial moment in your video.

Below I thought I would post a video example of how I shoot quick videos that increase traffic to my blog. I don't even edit these videos. I just shoot, upload and post them. it really is that simple. Go buy an HD Flip Camera and get busy, your blog will love you.

Real Life Video Example Below

You will either like me or hate me or something in between when you watch my video. Remember how I talked about putting yourself out there. Give it a try and watch the traffic increase to your website.

Here is a real life example of a quick video I shot using the Zi6 that helped to send my blog traffic from YouTube. Just the way I explained in the article.
