GE French Door Refrigerator – A Stylish and Functional Innovation on the Traditional Fridge

Of all the brands of kitchen appliances out there, why would a GE French door refrigerator be a great addition to your home? General Electric (GE) came out with its first full line of heating and cooking appliances in 1907. The GE name on an appliance means that you can trust it in your home or business.

General Electric products are sold in over 100 countries. They service commercial, industrial, and residential settings. For more than 100 years, they have been experts in major appliances, lighting, industrial equipment, and more. Refrigerators are one product of GE that is particularly outstanding. GE French door refrigerators are one of the newest General Electric innovations to hit home and commercial kitchens worldwide.

There are three main types of fridges: top freezer refrigerators, side by side refrigerators, and French door bottom freezer refrigerators. Top freezer refrigerators are the traditional “older” style of home refrigerators with a freezer atop the fridge, both on a swinging hinge on the side. Side by side fridges were the next to arrive, where the fridge was divided vertically in half. Two doors each swung outward, one being the refrigerator and the other being the freezer. The latest innovation in refrigerators is the French door bottom freezer refrigerator. The freezer is on the bottom rather than the top, and pulls out like a drawer. The fridge is on top, but opens into two French doors that swing outward.

It makes more sense to have the fridge above the freezer, since people use their fridges more often. Fridges on the bottom require lots of stooping to get often-used items. They are stylish and functional, and the fact that the doors require less space to open makes them, prefect for small kitchens. French door fridges like GE French door refrigerators offer double the interior space of side by side models, and offer features like ice and water dispensers that usually aren’t found on a traditional top-freezer. People should know, however, that they are wider than other styles of fridges so they should measure carefully before purchasing one.

French door refrigerators in general cost more than other styles of fridges, and General Electric is a higher-end brand of appliance. Generally speaking, a GE French door refrigerator will cost between $1500 to $2300. GE offers fridges in stainless steel, black, or white finishes. Most of their models come standard with digital controls and electronic temperature sensors. Larger fridges are around 25 cubic feet, but there are smaller models with about 20 cubic feet of space as well.
