Google Maps for Mobile has added a new feature in which customers can get public transit directions directly on their mobile in maps.

Google Maps for Mobile is a handy tool to find directions and also to show others the actual map view instead of just giving them verbal directions. It gives a full satellite view and directions in text also. Now Google Maps has added another feature, which provides transit directions in about 10 countries besides the US.

You can see the complete list of cities and countries that offers this new feature here. Google Map for Mobile will be available in Japan, Austria, Switzerland, Canada, Italy, France, UK and Australia.

To access this feature, you should either have a Blackberry phone or Java enabled phone and visit the website:

Click the “transit” tap and enter the "to" and "from" address, Google will provide the transit directions.

Google Mobile blog says about this new feature: "This version of Google Maps for mobile even has a few tricks not yet available on the desktop version of Google Maps. For instance, you can find the last transit trips of the day (to figure out how late you can stay at the party) and more easily browse through earlier or later trips,"

You can download the latest version of the mobile Google Maps for Blackberry and Java-enabled phones by visiting www.google.com/gmm on your mobile phone.

Thanks Bob, can you use it in your phone? They don't have this in my city, but my university has a GPS Tracking map, very useful to see when they will arrive or leave.

Soon every phone will have this feature in the next few years. Everyone wants to adopt Google Android Operating System, so this feature will become standard in every phone.
