Help For Painful Periods

Many women have painful periods from time to time, and some of us have them every month.
We all know that regular exercise and things like hot showers and taking ibuprofen can help. But what you may not know is that their are quite a few natural remedies that may provide relief as well. This article outlines a few of those remedies and hopefully you will find something here that will help you out.

Dong Quai:
Not only is Dong Quai one of the best know cures for menstrual cramps it's also the best working cure. Dong Quai which can be found as supplement, extract, or tea works by helping to regulate your hormones. I've been drinking Yogi Women's Energy Tea which contains Dong Quai for a few months now and have noticed a definite improvement in my periods.

Pickle Juice:
If you don't have anything else around try drinking some pickle juice. Pickle juice is a natural remedy for cramps that also works fairly quickly to bring you relief.

Beer:
Beer is a natural muscle relaxant that gives almost immediate pain relief, so the next time cramps hit just try drinking a can of beer.

Peppermint Tea:
Peppermint tea is a mild muscle relaxant and can be helpful in relieving menstrual cramps.

Ginger Root:
Grated ginger root added to a cup of tea works great to reduce cramps. Just add a teaspoon of grated ginger to a hot cup of tea for fast relief.

Valerian Root:
Valerian Root which is usually used as a sleep aid can also be helpful in controlling cramps.

Evening Primrose Oil:
Evening Primrose Oil which is another good remedy for cramps contains large amounts of GLA which is an essential fatty acid that can be helpful in relieving cramps.
