Cellulite is the term used to describe the fat that develops just below the epidermis or the skin. It develops when fat toxins generated by metabolism fail to get properly flushed from the body and start pushing up against the skin. Cellulite manifests itself as dimpled skin, typically on an individual’s thighs, hips, tummy and buttocks. Very often, cellulite is described as a lumpy substance that resembles cottage cheese in appearance. It occurs mostly with women, though men can also develop the condition occasionally.
 
Cellulite by itself is not believed to be a medically serious condition and does not normally represent a health risk. However, the cottage cheese look and lumpy skin that accompany the condition can sometimes be a source of acute embarrassment for individuals who have cellulite. Women who have cellulite deposits sometimes go to great lengths, and expenses to try and mitigate the appearance of the condition. This is especially true in the case of women who find their ability to wear swimsuits, bikinis and other beach wear severely compromised by the appearance of cellulite on their buttocks.

Some Facts

Before you begin researching how to get rid of cellulite on your butt, it is important to keep some facts in mind. The biggest one is that there are really no permanent cures for cellulite on your butt or elsewhere on the body for that matter. Numerous surgical and non-surgical measures, lotions and massage techniques are available today that can certainly help alleviate the appearance of cellulite. But it’s important to remember that none of them are really permanent and often work only when they are combined with a detoxifying diet that is high in cellulite food such as vegetables, fiber, proteins and complex carbohydrates.

 


Severity of the Cellulite

Any decision on how to get rid of cellulite on your butt should be dictated by the severity of the condition. While extreme cases may require surgical procedures such as liposuction, sometimes a massage for cellulite reduction can reduce the lumpy appearance. There are different forms that a massage for cellulite reduction can take. Some cellulite reduction clinics these days for instance offer massages that combine low-intensity laser and light waves with mechanical manipulation or massage of a target area to mitigate the appearance of cellulite-enlarged fat cells. The goal behind such massages is to essentially melt and transport away fat from the affected area to restore an appearance of tighter, smoother skin. Such procedures are usually carried out an out-patient basis and multiple sessions are sometimes needed to see a noticeable difference.

A more straightforward manual skin kneading is another option available for those considering a
massage for cellulite reduction. Here again the goal is to mechanically manipulate a target area with the objective of smoothing away cellulite-dimpled skin. A typical massage for cellulite reduction can last anywhere from half-hour to over an hour-and-a-half and varies greatly in price.

Cellulite cream meanwhile offers a largely cosmetic approach to addressing the appearance of cellulite. A good cellulite cream masks the cottage cheese appearance on the butt and blends the target area with the surrounding area. Most cellulite creams contain caffeine and retinol, which is a form of Vitamin A. Both ingredients are supposed to shrink fat cells when applied directly on an affected area. Brands such as Nivea and Biobodyslim today offer cellulite creams which they claim not only masks the appearance of cellulite but actually reduces it. Both creams are supposed to be applied directly on the affected area three to four times a day where it gets absorbed by the skin and works on reducing the fat underneath. The jury is still out on the effectiveness of such treatment. But a good cellulite cream today appears to offer the least expensive option for mitigating the appearance of cellulite compared to massages and surgical procedures.

Best Approach for Cellulite Reduction

Over the long-term though, such approaches do not eliminate cellulite entirely. The best approach for reducing cellulite on your butt or elsewhere in the body is to adopt, and stick to a diet of cellulite foods that are low in fat and include generous portions of fresh fruit and vegetable on a daily basis.Good cellulite foods include fresh fruit and vegetables including bean sprouts, spinach and fresh dandelion leaves. Nuts, brown rice, fish and foods that are rich in Omega oils also make good cellulite foods. Meats are acceptable but only as long as they are lean meats. What’s important for getting rid of cellulite is to avoid foods that are high in saturated fats. That means avoiding most fast food, and fried foods which contain high-levels of cholesterol, as well as caffeinated drinks and alcoholic beverages. Also recommended are plenty of water and fresh fruit juices which enhances the ability of the body to flush out fat and other toxins. In addition, honey and lemon juice are also recommended by some as way to enhance the benefits of other cellulite reducing foods such as fruits and vegetables.
