How To Grill Corn
53For me as soon as spring hits its time to break out the grill and throughout spring, summer and fall I grill as much as I possibly can. (I even have been known to fire up while it’s snowing outside) I have always been a huge fan grilled foods and my favorite summer time grilled items is fresh and sweet corn on the cob. There is nothing better than taking that first bite and getting that explosion of smoky sweetness that you can only get from grilled corn on the cob.
I have been grill corn for about twenty years. I tried just about every method that you can think of when it comes to grilling corn and while I love just about every method there are two that really stand out and I wanted to share them with people that are looking to learn how to grill corn.
How To Grill Corn: Method #1
This is my fast method on how to grill corn. It is for those nights that you get off work and you want to grill but you tried so want to keep things simple and fast. What you want to do is first get your grill fired up in this case I use gas because it is faster but get it fired up to about a medium high heat.
Next we need to get the corn ready all we are going to go on the grill. All we are going to do is peel a little bit of the husk completely off. Leaving just enough husk so that you do not expose the corn kernels.
Now it’s time to through the corn on the grill. Put the corn on the upper rack if you have one if not put it on the outside edge of the coals or flames. The corn will take about 16-20 minutes to cook just turn about half way through.
Once the corn is done (when it’s hot and tender) take it off the grill and hot pad hot the corn and pull the rest of the husk and silk it will fall off very easily. After you get it all off brush the corn with a little butter and sprinkle with a little salt and pepper or your favorite seasoning and enjoy.
How To Grill Corn: Method #2
This method take a little bit more prep work and you have to keep a closer eye on it while grilled but it is worth the extra work. Again like the other method get your grill fired up, this time I prefer to use a charcoal or wood grill.
Now we need to prep the corn. Take the corn and pull slowly peel the husk back making sure not to remove it from the cob. Once you get it pulled back remove all the silk then soak then take and soak in a in water for 15 -20 minutes. Next, mix 6 tablespoons of room temp butter with 1 minced garlic clove and a pinch of sea salt and brush on the corn cob.
Now take the husk and rewrap the corn back up and then tie the end together with a piece on husk and now it’s time to grill the corn. This time we want to get the corn right over the coals or flame and grill for about 15 to 20 minutes turning about every five minutes or so. Just keep a close eye because the butter will melt and cause flare-ups to happen.
Take it off the grill unwrap the husk and enjoy.
