How To Improve Singing Voice

How to improve singing voice with 5 easy exercises.  This hub will teach you 5 easy exercises to improve your singing voice.

  1. Sirens  Using a light voice, start at a comfortable high pitch and scoop up slightly and then slide down to your lower range.  Remember not to strain.  Another variation of this exercise is to start low and slide up and then back down.  This helps to eliminate cracks in your voice around your break.
  2. Superhero Breathing  For this exercise, you pretend you are a superhero that has to blow a toxic cloud out into space.  Take a big breath in and blow as hard as you can to get the cloud away into space.  Be careful if you get dizzy doing this exercise.  It helps to increase your deep breathing ability and helps you to strengthen your breathing muscles.
  3. Increased Breathing  For this exercise, you inhale for one, then exhale for 2 counts.  Then, inhale one and exhale for 3.  Then inhale for one and exhale for 4, etc.  Snapping fingers may help you to count or you may make a hissing sound like a snake and accent the beats as you exhale.  Remember to be careful if you get dizzy.
  4. Lip Buzzing  This is when you put your lips together and make a motorboat or raspberry sound.  Start with do to sol and back to do.  Or, to think about it on a scale, it would be like C to G and back to C.  Then, up a half step and repeat.  Don't go higher than you can comfortably reach.
  5. Queen's Laughter  For this exercise, you start on do, sol, sol, sol, sol, fa, mi, re, do.   You sing Ma ha ha ha ha ha ha ha haaaaaaaaa.   Hold the last note as long as you can, trying not to get too much vibrato.  Make sure you can feel your diaphragm supporting the ha's.  Again, don't strain and push on the higher notes.  Work up as comfortably as you can and stay relaxed.

Well, that's a few exercises to help you.  Now you know how to improve singing voice.

I remember some of these exercises from when I took singing lessons. Warming up is something I forget to do as a casual singer, and I know it's equally important!
