How To Increase Your Jumping Ability!
58Jump Higher Faster - Increasing Your Vertical Leap
Basically I’m writing this article for those who’ve tried to increase their jumping ability in the past but were unsuccessful. Unlike some programs you may have tried in the past I plan on showing you the right way to jump higher. Keep in mind that the methods that I’ll describe in this article will be methods that I’ve used personally and that have helped me to increase my vertical leap. Every person is different and some workouts and jump programs work better than others for different people, however there is a common median across all jump training which I plain on sharing with you later in this article.
Well, for starters if you are not in the best condition that you can possibly be, you will not gain the maximum amount of leaping ability that you can possibly gain. It’s just that simple. If you are overweight you need to try and lose those few pounds to get into good training condition. You don’t have to run a whole lot to lose the weight either, it can be lost with simply changing your diet and eating better.
Once you’ve got in to good training condition (ideal weight for your height) then you should start a training program, however if you want to jump as high as possible, you simply have to put weight training in to your routine! Weight training is crucial! But it’s also important not to over train as well. If you train too light then you won’t get enough power, and if you train too heavy you’ll gain power but not explosiveness. Explosive training is the key to increasing your jumping ability!
You should keep this in mind when training your lower body especially! I say lower body because you don’t want to assume that I’m not taking about your upper body. You do train your upper body for jumping don’t you? If you thought that upper body training wasn’t important, than you should think again. The force at which you are able to swing your arms upward as you jump helps to propel your body upward. The sturdier your core is the more stability you will have to swing your arms. The faster you swing your arms the higher you will be able to jump. If you’re not including upper body training you should start it immediately. But back to what I was saying about explosive training. For weights you want to try to stay around 3 sets of 8 reps or so. I guess you can call this somewhat of a power zone (as far as reps are concerned).
I must warn you know by doing weight training alone you will increase your vertical leap over time, however it will not increase nearly as much when you add explosive workouts or exercises to jump higher! You can probably increase your jumping ability in half the time just by combining the two!
