Learning to play the guitar has never been easier these days. There are so many guitar resources online, some free and some paid, that you can utilize to help you learn and master the guitar. Just do a search on Google, and you will be able to find easy to learn guitar songs that any beginner can play. I have been teaching myself the guitar over the past year and I am finding it to be such a fun hobby to learn. It's really awesome to be able to get together with friends and play guitar music together. In this hub, I am going to share with you a couple of courses I have used personally to help me learn the guitar.

The first guitar course I tried was a product called Jamorama. There were a lot of courses I came across in my resesarch, but after reading all the reviews on the web, it seemed like Jamorama would be well suited for a beginner learning the guitar. It was also quite affordable and I thought it would be a nice way to start out.

Jamorama is taught by Ben Edwards, who is a professional musician. He was a member of the band Degreesk which is a well known band in Australia. The Jamorama system teaches guitar by combining software, video and games to help you learn the guitar. As I mentioned earlier, it is well suited for beginners, but by the time you finish the course, you should be able to play some advanced guitar songs. All of Jamorama's 148 lessons are downloadable and I found it a convenient way to practice whenever I wanted. I appreciated the high quality videos, and you will find that the exercises are all fun and interesting.

The part I enjoyed most about the course was the Jamorama Jam Tracks. There is a wide selection of Jam Tracks to play, and cover many different musical styles like rock and roll, jazz, classical and blues. I found it to be one of the best methods to improve my guitar playing technique. The bonus software that is included in the Jamorama package is quite useful as well. There is a software to help you learn to read music called Jayde Musica Pro.  Since I had no previous background, this was very important to me.  I also liked the GuitEarIt software which is an ear training game. Ear training is an important skill to learn because you can use it to transcribe songs from your favorite music sources like CDs or the radio.

All in all, I liked what the Jamorama course was able to do for me. Included is about a years worth of lessons and my guitar skills were noticably improved after taking the course. Best of all, I now had the skill to play some of my favorite songs that I had always wanted to play. I would definitely recommend Jamorama as the most affordable way to learn guitar for beginners. I was recommended to Learn and Master Guitar by one of my friends. I had actually read about the course earlier in my research, but at the time I thought it was too expensive. After going through the Jamorama course however, I wanted to look for a course that could take my guitar playing skills to the next level and the Learn and Master Guitar course looked like it would fit the bill.

Learn and Master Guitar is taught by professional guitarist Steve Krenz. Steve is an accomplished guitar teacher and his passion for teaching comes across in the videos. The entire software package consists of 20 DVDs, 5 Jam Along CDs, and a hundred page instructional workbook. When I first opened the package in the mail, I was really impressed by how professional everything looked.

The lessons do an excellent job of explaining the guitar basics. In the beginning, you learn proper guitar position, optimal fret and finger placement, and special exercises designed to help your hands adjust to playing the guitar. I was not really that interested in the basics since I had learned most of the skills already so I decided to skip ahead to the the more advanced stuff. Here I learned things like strumming techniques, advanced chords, reading music and how to play different genres of music like blues, jazz and rock and roll. The Jam Along CDs are really fun to play along with as they simulate you playing alongside a real band. It is a fun method which takes the concepts you have learned in the lessons and helps you improve on them.

I must say that Steve Krenz is an excellent guitar teacher. All the techniques are demonstrated in a clear and simple to understand way. As an added bonus, if you have any questions or issues from the lessons, you can go over to the Learn and Master Guitar forums and ask them there. The community is very active, and I found that my questions got answered very quickly. Additionally, I see Steve Krenz himself on the forums all the time and you could actually ask him a question if you wanted to.

Learn and Master Guitar is an excellent guitar course. It is extremely comprehensive and will probably take you farther along than Jamorama. It is also more expensive, but I think the extra cost is worth it. Serious guitar learners should definitely consider trying this program out.
