Make A Kite

Kite flying is a lot of fun. Did you know though that some of the best kites are homemade. A popular design is the diamond shape kite. So this hub will teach you how to make a kite in a diamond shape. Once made this kite will fly really well.

How to Make A Kite

1. First off get a big piece of bulletin paper and draw a perfect square on it.

2. Now you need to cut out the square. Scissors will do the trick here or you could use an art knife.

3. To make the paper look like a diamond first rotate it and then fold from one side to the other.

4. Open the paper and place your wooden dowel vertically on the fold line.

5. Place another dowel horizontally on top of the first dowel in the center of the paper.

6. Secure these together with some tape.

7. Place dowels along the edges and tape them securely to the paper

8. Cut off all the excess paper.

9. When that is done, reinforce the kite by adding more tape to the edges and center of the kite.

10. Make two holes with the vertical dowel in the middle of the holes, above the center point.

11. Repeat step 10 but make the two holes below the center line.

12. Feed a string through both sets of holes and tie them together so it makes the keel of the kite.

13. Tie the long string to the keel and your kite is ready to fly.
