The History Of The Origami Crane

The origami crane has long been a symbol of healing in the Japanese culture. The origami crane has found itself in many important events like weddings, prayer rallies, etc.

If you're looking to learn how make an origami crane for an up and coming event BUT don't know how to get started, then I'll be showing you the simple steps you need to follow to create a crane using nothing more than a piece of paper.

Check this out...

Lets Get Started

First off, make sure that you have a perfectly square sheet of paper. It can be any type of colored paper BUT it's always best to have a paper that's designd specially for origami. You can easily find them in craft stores.

Start by folding one of the edges to meet the other in a way that the colored side is facing outward then lay the paper flat on the floor. Fold it again just like what you did with the second step BUT do it with the other edge this time, open, then lay it flat on the floor.

Fold it diaginally in a way that the white side is out while lining up the corners.

Open up the paper and repeat the above step with the other direction and corners and open it up again. Next, lay the paper with the white side up and bring the side corners together and bring the top corner down.

Almost Done

With the open side pointed towards the left, fold a corner of the square paper...ending with the edge lined up in the center.

Next, simply repeat the above step with the other flap. Flip the paper over and repeat the said steps for the other 2 flaps. Fold the top flap down and crease hard on the pape repeat it on the opposite direction.

Open up the side and lay it flat. The top flap - lift it on the open end.

Lift the top flap on the open end and fold that flap upwards bringing it to the sides.

You see, it does not take much to learn how to make an origami crane.
