How To Make Crab Cakes

One of my favorite foods on earth are crab cakes and now that crab meat is available in the seafood section of most supermarkets everyone can enjoy great tasting crab cakes. Look for the small cans or jars of fresh crab meat in your supermarkets seafood section. Once you have purchased your canned crab meat you will want to take it home and place it in the refrigerator. And the best thing is to purchase your crab meat from the supermarket the day of or day before you plan to make your crab cakes to insure that your crab is fresh.

Once you are ready to make your crab cakes remove the can of crab from the refrigerator and open it. It should smell sweet , and of the ocean. Now you will want to pour your crab meat out into a large bowl and carefully pick through your crab meat to make sure there are no shell fragments in your crab meat. You may not find any crab shell fragments but you should check carefully. And now you are ready to make the world's best crab cakes.

Best Crab Cakes Recipe

Here is what I consider to be the world's best crab cakes recipe. They turn out perfect every time and they are oh so delicious. With these crab cakes you brown them in a skillet and finish them cooking in a baking pan in the oven.

1. 1 Tablespoon Old Bay Seasoning.

2. 1/2 Cup of Mayonnaise.

3. 1 Large Egg.

4. 1 Tablespoon Dijon Mustard.

5. 1 Teaspoon Ground Cayenne Pepper.

6. 1 Tablespoon Finely Chopped Chives.

7. 1 Tablespoon Finely Chopped Cilantro.

8. 1 Teaspoon Ground Coriander.

9. The Juice of One Lime.

10. 1 Teaspoon White Pepper.

11. 1 Teaspoon Ground Sea Salt.

12. 1/2 Cup Italian Bread Crumbs.

13. 2 Pounds Lump Crab Meat.

14. 2 Tablespoons Butter.( Keep for Frying )

Combine all of your ingredients in a large bowl and mix together well. Now you will want to shape all your crab cake mixture out into crab cakes. Keep them about 3-4 inches around and about a inch thick. When you have them all formed you will want to put your 2 tablespoons of butter into a skillet and over medium heat brown your crab cakes on each side being sure not to burn your crab cakes.

Once you have them all browned place them on a large baking pan in a single layer and place in a 350 degree preheated oven for 35-40 minutes and watch them carefully to make sure your crab cakes do not burn. And now you have made what I consider to be the worlds best crab cakes. Serve them with cocktail and tartar sauce and I guarantee you that your family and friends will love them.
