Want to Make Extra Cash Online

The current financial crises means that more and more people want to make money online not only do they want to make money online they usually want to make money fast and often they want to make money for free. Unfortunately there are a lot of unethical marketers out there who are more than happy to take your money and and attempt to deliver on their promise which will offer you fast extra cash online - if you have any sense, or respect for your money you will run a million miles.

Why Internet Marketing Has Such Bad Reputation

Yes you can make money online. First though when you are looking for an opportunity to make money online remember that most people trying to make money online are trying to do it by earning commissions from newbies who are looking to make money online - people like you! Guess which programs get promoted the most? The best programs - sure, that's the programs with the best commissions of course! Quite a number of current programs have up front charges of around $2000 - the commission is probably about 30-40% - you can see the temptation can't you?

That is the heart of the problem with the ethics of Internet Marketing - and leads to new people doing one of two things: loosing a lot of money and then quiting the business getting a real bad taste in their mouth - and quitting the business.

I was lucky - first I didn't have much money so I quit without losing too much cash, just a whole lot of time, which for many people is even more precious. And secondly I found a few good, ethical marketers who taught me how to make money online for real.

You Can Make Real Money Online

But there is no pot of gold!
But there is no pot of gold!

Can You Make Real Money Online - Is It All A Scam?

Yes you can make real money - but its not by selling stuff to other people who want to make money. Instead its by selling stuff to people who really want to buy it: real stuff: iPods, e-books on how to meet a girl, where to find a replacement vacuum bag for your model Hoover.

Is it quick and easy to do this? No its not. There is an awful lot of both wrong and mis-information out there. You don't need a big name blog, or even to be a great writer to make money online. In fact one of the people I know makes 6-figures a year online is an absolutely appalling writer by his own admission. You don't need to blog regularly, you don't need lots of readers and you don't need social networks like twitter and facebook.

What you need is buyers on your site; and your site needs to be focused with providing answer to people searching for an answer to their problem: how do I get rid of ants in the kitchen? how do I get a jammed DVD out of a Panasonic XYZ DVD Player? how to cure acne? Your site needs to provide an answer to your visitor in a manner which will get you paid - be it an eBay or Amazon sale or an e-book or an Adsense ad click.

Think Like A Customer to Make Money Online

Just like any business if you can turn it around and think about the customer you are probably 80% of the way there. Unfortunately all the blogs which tell you that if you write about your passion and the money will follow are wrong for about 99% of people. If you passion is credit cards, or termite extermination - than you might be OK though! Think of all the small business that you have seen start and fail because someone had a passion to produce beautiful candles or little girl's fairy dresses.

That's really all you need to know: to make money online you need to think about what the customer (the buyer) wants - not what you want. You may want to write about what you did on the holidays or why you enjoy your new puppy - but its unlikely to make you money. If on the other hand you can provide good information on how to save money on your next beach vacation in Florida -you may be onto something.

Can Anyone Make Real Money Online?

No they can't. The lazy and terminally stupid can't. Sorry if that offends but this takes real effort. Eventually you can set up a nice little passive income business by building niche sites - but for the first year or so its going to take a lot of work. You don't however need to be highly technically literate, a fantastic writer, or a great marketer. All of those skills you can learn - it will help if you already have them, or you have the money to buy the skills that you don't have - but these aren't impossible barriers.

Where Do I Start to Make Extra Cash Online?

I have written before about the few sources of good information which I use to learn this business. Now however one of my mentors: Courtney Tuttle has launched an affordable membership that teaches just that. Court with his colleague Mark have several years experience and have been teaching and consulting for a while - though to be honest their previous programs were too expensive for me - and most of their information can be be found on their blog. Now they have launched the Keyword Crash Course Video Series for $1 - yes $1.

What do you get for that $1?

Well you get get access to a set of 10 videos (plus transcriptions if you prefer to read rather than listen) which cover the basics of making money online from keyword selection, site development using WordPress and getting your site ranked in Google.

Is there a catch? Well of course there is - yes you get access to all the videos and the forums for one month for $1: after that it will cost you $33/month to subscribe to continue to have access to ongoing webinars, and the forums as well as all the videos. (There is a cheaper option of $29/month which doesn't give you download access to the webinars or access to the forums - but the forums are crucial for most people).

Will it make you thousands of dollars in my sleep? No it won't Court and Mark recommend that you commit to spending about 10 hours a week working on your business. If you put no effort in you won't make any money - guaranteed!

KeyWord Academy Subscription Details

  • Initial cost $1
  • Ongoing $33 month (or $29)
  • Access to forums, 10 comprehensive getting started videos, plus monthly webinars.
  • Access to 50 directories for creating backlinks to your sites and hubs.

What If I Want to Cancel

When you paypal a subscription is created to debit your account with the $33/$29 in 30 days - go into Paypal and cancel the subscription - you don't have to contact The KeyWord Academy - you just find the transaction on Paypal and click 'cancel' - Your total money at risk on this offer is $1 - you can cancel at anytime. Within a few months you should be making enough money to cover the subscription cost anyway.

How Does The KeyWord Academy Work For Beginners

Beginners will get a step-by-step approach to making money online. It doesn't cover every possible way and focuses on using WordPress blogs and Adsense - but you can apply the general principals to other ways of developing sites and other monetization models.

How Does The KeyWord Academy Work For More Experienced Internet Marketers

I joined to to check it out - and become a member of the affiliate program - and I did learn stuff that I thought I already knew - I think I get my $33 value.

I have access to 50 directories, all on different IP's where I can post backlinks to my own sites by submitting a 125 word blog post with my contextural link. Those of you who know how hard it is to get backlinks to niche sites will know that this is worth more than $33/month!

Affiliate Warning I am a member of The Keyword Academy and if you sign up using the links in this hub I will get paid a commission by them. I don't think the program will work for everyone and if you don't think its worth it for you - you should cancel your subscription before the next payment is due (30 days). However if you really want to make money online I think you owe yourself the chance to check it out - it only costs $1 for the first month!

Finally someone truly honest about the hype on making easy and fast money on the internet. I agree with you that today it just is not so. I also totally agree with you about all those claims on teaching you to do the impossible (and most of the time they leave out the essential bit - but too late for the money back guarantee to function).

I am glad to hear that you have found a reliable course. There are a few of them. I know one as well, but for ethical reasons will not mention it here.

I always know I will get good content on your postings. Thanks

Great hub Lissie, thanks! I've noticed that with the economy still tough and the job market getting worse by the minute, MLM scams are rampant--not just intenet marketing and sales, but everything. It seems EVERYONE is selling SOMETHING and wants you to buy/have a party/signup/be their MLM slave, whatever. God, it's freakin' irritating and sad.

The truth is, 98% of these people will not make money. Period. And so many of these 'businesses' are downright abusive in their recruiting techniques. I think a good rule of thumb is, "Does this come on make me feel stupid or slow for not signing up yesterday?" If the answer is 'yes' IMO, run. Run and don't look back.

I totally agree with pgrundy - the come-ons with sexy gals fanning out hundred dollar bills in front of a background of sports cars and huge houses just turn me off. As do the stories of from homeless bum to instant millionaire.

Like any business, you need to find a market that's buying, do your research for a reputable product, and put in some hard work.

Thanks for the link, and the usual well-presented hub.

Totally agree with your comments Lissie. It took me a long time and a lot of money to understand the "keyword" issue and how it relates to niche marketing at a profit.

The Keyword Crash course does look good, but as I say, I have made my investment! But, this is a key point that I know both you and I have made again and again, it is an investment in learning what you need to learn to be successful online. Fail to make the investment fail in your business, plain and simple.

Having said that...I think people looking at "Biz Opps" actually LIKE and BUY the hype! Sad but true.

I heard about an Internet Marketer at the Vancouver IM conference who stood on stage gave 90 minutes of solid money making info no hype and sold very little product on the back of his presentation. The next guy did 90 minutes of empty hype and sold a bucket load. I rest my case!

You know APD if you had left that comment about a month ago I wouldn't have believed that people were so stupid. But now after all the comments on my blog on the back of the SBI controversy - people like to be ripped off and they like to be told what to do - WTF eh? The hype is the dream - that's what most people want - they don't want the reality about working bloody hard for the dream. If you want the dream I suggest a lottery ticket - much cheaper than most IM hyped products!

You're right in that determination would really have to be part of the deal. I think it's better to think of earning online through one's site as starting off in trickles of change, and then later picking up, over the months. It would take a lot of time and patience to find a good niche, the affiliate marketing product to go with it, the articles to be uploaded and reworded, and the link-back building. So much work to do. But if one really loves the niche and the writing, it can be worth it.

Thanks for the information. At least this piece of information will stop us being bait for unethical internet marketers and it is also a guide to build a site focused with providing customers’ answers to their queries and as a result, marketing the product that makes us earn real money.
