About College

College is a big world outside there. Some of the fresh high school graduates are excited to go to college while others are afraid to go to college. But these are all normal for everyone who is going to college. College is so different because you would meet lots of people in different ages, in different personalities and in different time. You would also go to many classrooms at one day. Activities are more active compared to the high school activities.

But one person can not go into college without going to the freshman orientation program. This is given by all the colleges and universities of the world. The colleges and universities provide this to ease the transition of being a grownup person. This is the time where the freshman can get acquainted with the new campus that they can be in, the new academics that they are going to take up, the extracurricular activities that they can join and the services that they can avail as a student. But how can a person attend the said college freshman orientation successfully?

Here are some easy steps that you can take.

  • Before you go for an orientation, take the placement test first so that you would know if you can really go to that school if incase you like the school.
  • Never miss a chance to go for this orientation. This is a major requirement in all the colleges that many students skip. You must know that skipping the college orientation is a big mistake. This is where you can feel more self assurance for you to face the college life.
  • The next thing you need to do is to set your schedules. This is very confusing to the newly graduated high school but they do not need to worry because there are major advisers that are present to help them. This is important for one freshman to be able to avoid the long lines when the semester starts.
  • Meet all your major professors to be able to know them. As much as possible you can ask mature and engaging questions to know your professors or the subject you are taking well.
  • Try to make friends. There are many people out there that feel the same like you. It is best that you start a conversation rather than wait for someone t approach you.
  • Roam the whole campus for you to know your new surroundings. This is needed for you to find your classes soon. Walk around the campus when you have nothing to do so that you would know your surroundings. Getting together with other kids can also make your college life wonderful.
  • Get all the information about the extracurricular activities that are available. At least one extracurricular activity is best for a freshman.
  • It is also best if parents would also attend the freshman orientation. With this, they would know the new school surroundings of their child. There are many parents that would come so it would not be embarrassing to bring a parent. There are even colleges that invite the parents to come for a dinner on the orientation. This orients the parents for their children’s new surroundings.
