Herpes transmission rates are high and the cause of it is that the transmission can be done in many ways and actually it is quite easy to get infected with the Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV). The transmission of herpes is usually made through two main ways: by kissing and by vaginal intercourse; it in not limited by that, since there are some other ways for that to occur.
Many people get HSV today and this is because the easiness of the virus spreading; also people do not care so much about getting infected and do not follow the precaution recommendations. Those who are infected should be also more careful especially when they have outbreaks, to avoid spreading the virus all around.
The transmission of herpes is made through the direct contact with the affected areas; it can be made by touch the skin lesions of the affected person or through a sexual intercourse with somebody who is already infected. It is true for both oral herpes and genital herpes.
Through vaginal and anal intercourse the genital herpes is delivered, and the oral herpes transmission is done through kissing, or simply by touching.
Remember that you can get oral herpes through oral sex, and vice versa - one can get genital herpes through having an oral sex with the infected person. Masturbation - as an example of non sexual transmission of genital herpes - can also contract genital herpes transmission if you touch your partner and then touch yourself.
Usually herpes simplex transmission is done through the direct contact with the open cold sores or blisters (an outbreak); but it can also take place without visible skin lesions - it is called asymptomatic viral shedding. When a person get infected he or she can experience prodromal symptoms such as itching or tingling, and in that situation contact with the affected area can also lead to transmission of the herpes virus. Often such things happen when a person is unaware of the fact that they got infected and he or she may unknowingly propagate the virus, even when there are no visible symptoms.
Self infection can also take place when someone touches the affected area and then spreads the virus to other parts of his or her body, like eyes, mouth and so on. That's a sad truth; you can infect yourself, so you need to be very careful. Moreover such unknowingly you can infect your kids or other relatives at your home. If you are not sure what might have you touched during the day, do not put your hands on the children's eyes, face, etc., to prevent herpes transmission.
Another bad news is that the virus can be delivered to a newborn baby from his mother, so it is very important for a pregnant woman to avoid getting infected with the herpes virus. If you still got infected, you need to be careful to not have an outbreak when the vaginal delivery is done; otherwise the caesarian section may be performed to protect the baby from contacting with the infected areas.
If you are the carrier of the herpes virus, be careful to avoid transmitting the herpes to other people. Take necessary precaution between outbreaks to prevent the virus from spreading.
Having herpes is not the end of the life; there are many remedies for effective herpes treatment, so you can make the virus lay dormant for many years and not to make you any problems. But you also need to be very careful to avoid herpes transmission to others, especially to those you love.
