Types of Rashes....

A rash in a baby is an irritation to the skin resulting in red bumps. These bumps cause the skin to become bumpy, itchy, swollen and red. Consequently becoming painful for your baby. Below are some common reasons for a rash in your baby

  • dry skin
  • diaper rash
  • allergies or exposure to chemicals that are in materials, such as cotton

Always consult your physician, if necessary

Your Babies Exposure

A baby's skin is five times thinner than an adult's making it easier for chemicals to be absorbed. If your baby is wearing cotton, which the majority of clothing is made of, there is the possibility that they are absorbing the chemicals in the material. Cotton production is the 2nd largest user of pesticides and insecticides, such as Chlorine, Dioxin and Formaldehyde. Not only will these chemicals affect your babies skin but are also absorbed in the body possibly causing other harmful affects as well.

If you are using cotton products for your babies nursery or clothing, try organic cotton as an alternative. More major manufacturers are offering organic cotton products as well as other alternatives, hemp and bamboo for example, as concerns about chemical use arise. There are organic sheets and clothing that would impress the best these days. A change as simple as this could alleviate your baby's rash and make them more comfortable.

Diaper Rash

There are also many natural and homeopathic remedies for diaper rash as well. There are some simple standard treatments for rashes such as

  • chlorine free diapers
  • keeping the skin dry
  • changing your baby's diapers often and
  • using homeopathic lotions
  • organic baby powder.
