Get Centered To Get Back On Track

I have fortunately happened upon a effective self help anxiety technique. Its easy and best of all successful! Life is full of stress for this parent of a teen - actually if you look up stress in the dictionary I am sure you will see a picture of a teenager. So any healthy ways of relieving stress are hugely beneficial.

So what works for me? Getting centered! No not walking down a straightline or straigtening out my clothes, at least not for me, but as you read on maybe this will work for you. In fact, everyone has their own personal way to get centered. Once you are able to identify your best ways to reduce stress or get centered, you will be on the road.

Why do I have anxiety?

In my opinion, our lives are spinning so quickly and are so intricate, that we quickly become out-of-control. It is in that place out-of-controlness that we become stressed. It doesn't mean our whole life is off kilter, maybe just an area or two, like kids, health, money. But those areas can be just as if not more stressful than you can believe!

Any best ways to reduce stress?

In my opinion, you can't reduce the stress. But you can learn to handle it. One way to do this is to get centered.

What does it mean to get centered?

It basically means to find a way to give yourself a sense of control over something in your life. It doesn't have to be huge, trust me! It might not even be anything that is not in control, but just something you can have control over for that moment. It will do amazing things to your relieve your stress.

Where do I start?

Figure out something that's relaxing or soothing for you, and that gives you a sense of accomplishment when you get done. I have a couple of things I do to get centered - the main one is to mow the lawn. Now I know, most guys my age can hardly wait for their kids to get old enough to hand that job over to them, but as far as I'm concerned, they'll never learn how to do it! Believe me, they're not too bummed - they don't get centered the same way I do. Anyway, I just love the feeling and the satisfaction of seeing that freshly mowed and edged lawn, with hardly a blade of grass out of place. It gets me centered.

Like I said you can have more than one stress reducing way and I do. I love making the bed! Military tight corners, smooth sheets and blankets. And the spouse gets centered here too as it is one less chore on her list.

Speaking of my wife, she too has a centering tool - cleaning the glass on our sliding door. When life is whacko, she sprints down the hall and grabs the cleaner and towels and goes to town. She gets it so clean our kids have been known to try to walk right through it! But boy is she centered.

Separate those paper clips!

A friend of ours, who actually told us about centering, shared a story about a head of a large corporation who found his center by sorting paper clips. One of his co-workers one day stated that they did have people who they paid that could do that for him. The man just nodded and said this job is all mine!

So stop and figure it out now. What things can you do to reduce anxiety? Have a few tucked away and when you need to get centered you will be ready.

Reduce your stress - find out how to control anxiety right now, including panic attacks, job stress, or just constant underlying anxiety. Do it now - it's not worth living life this way!

An interesting thing happened on the way to opera last night (just kidding about the opera) - my daughter decided to be defiant. Straight up, in our face “I am going to break your rules”. One thing I find very interesting as a parent is how kids deal with things that they feel are unfair. I found that when they don’t believe the situation is fair, all rules go out the window. The fairness becomes the focus not the unacceptable behavior. Let me give you an example. I have firm rules [...] - 7 months ago

Hi Matt,

I think that in today's financial crisis there are allot of people under a tremendous amout of stress. Stress is so harmful to our health, our lives, our families. Music and running are my relief. They are my center..... They are my energy....We all need something.

Thanks
