Removing Pain In The Lower Back

For many people who suffer with back pain, they live in constant agony; finding some form of medication to bring back pain relief is probably a sufferers first thought, even if it only temporary. While there are a host of prescription medications that help with pain relief, many are doing nothing more than masking the symptoms instead of tackling the underlying cause of the pain. Any type of medication should only be used with the supervision of a doctor but especially when it is taken on a regular basis.

It is not difficult to injure your back, especially if you are a manual worker but long term problems can also be the result of an accident; large numbers of people have caused permanent damage to their backs just by sitting poorly for long periods. However, back pain is usually caused by a lifting accident or from lifting incorrectly and it is normally the lower back that suffers. More recently people are willing to try natural back pain relief treatments to stop their reliance on other types of medication.

An easy, inexpensive method to treat pain and bring relief is stretching; it actually relaxes the back muscles which can become knotted and tight, causing discomfort. Reflexology, an ancient type of alternative medical treatment, uses the concept that areas of the body have corresponding regions on the feet that can benefit from massage; it works very well in relieving back pain. Often to compensate for our pain, the back muscles over compensate. Reflexology can help provide relief by improving the circulation which in turn relaxes these hard worked muscles.

The traditional Chinese medicine therapy acupuncture is now providing back pain relief with people suffering spinal problems in the West. Followers of traditional Chinese medicine are of the belief that every person has an inner energy force (chi) that reflects of our state of health, mental and physical. Acupuncture needles help to release trapped or sick energy (chi) when inserted at particular points in the body. Whilst acupuncture is used for many conditions, it is frequently used for pain relief and many people claim to have excellent results from using it.

A slower and gentler type of Yoga called Tai Chi, once again from China, is another method of back pain control. Tai Chi is however very gentle and easily performed by young and older people. It focuses on breathing exercises with additional stretching movements. In addition to these methods to natural back pain relief, exercise can also help to relieve back pain; by exercising regularly there is less chance of a back pain attack.

Yoga and Tai Chi are excelent exercises to use to relieve back pain, but a lot of times they can be expensive or difficult to find classes that work with work schedule. That is where the convienence of the Internet comes into play. There are many rotines available on the internet that are easily accessible and affordable. One program is by back pain specialist Mike Stiveson. This program is called "The Guide To Back Pain Relief". 68% of the time exercise takes care of back pain. This number is on the side of exercise. Before starting any program it is a good idea to talk to a specialist.
