I don’t think anyone would like to see spider veins and leg veins on their ankles, thighs and calves. They make our important legs look increasingly old. Also, it is embarrassing to many people when they go to the beach for example, when wearing a swim suit. Methods that have previously been used to remove spider veins often needed painful injections and created bruises in the area that they were treated. But now today, there are is a laser treatment for spider veins. These are great as they are less painful and are quicker to recover from. Although this is a simple way of taking them out, this form of treatment cannot be done whilst having a tan. So it is best to remove spider veins during the spring, before the Summer comes.

How to Remove Spider Veins

Spider veins that are removed by laser treatment are done by destroying the inside of the vessal wall. This injury then causes the spider vein to shut down and eventually disappear. The older spider vein removal techniques were performed by injecting a strong irritant to the vessel instead to make it close. The laser spider vein removal process is done by shining a selected light wavelength which the blood in the spider vein heats up. This then makes the blood boil, thus damaging the vessel wall and then eventually makes it shut down.

What Are Laser Treatments Like?

The treatment to remove spider veins doesn’t take long – usually roughly 30 minutes. At first, a soothing gel is put on the area that the skin shall be treated on. The gel isn’t just to make you feel better, but also makes it easier to avoid skin injury from the whole procedure. Then, there is a hand piece which is placed on the spider vein area which needs to be treated on. A light then flashes several times onto the place where they want the spider vein therapy.

The person who is treating you (as well as yourself) should be wearing protective goggles to prevent yourself from damaging the eyes.

Do Spider Vein Treatments Hurt?

The more modern methods that were just described previously make it a lot more comfortable than it used to be in the past to remove spider veins. Usually, nearly all people who have spider vein treatments this way don’t have to take an anesthetic or any painkillers before. The sensation of the treatment can be imagined to be like the snap of a rubber band. But most people I know who have had spider vein laser treatment have said that the noise of the machine is scarier than the sensation that you feel on your skin.

When will the Spider Veins eventually be gone?

Usually, they at first tend to shrink smaller as the vessel closes. This takes roughly five weeks. Although some spider veins will be gone within days, some will take weeks so you have to be patient when you remove spider veins. It will take time.

How many Treatments Will I Need?

Treating spider veins will take a while, as is impossible to shut down all the vessels after just one treatment. People usually require three in 5 week gaps

Will I need extra downtime to remove spider veins?

As there isn’t much pain, bruising or other visible marks, there will be no need after having spider vein treatments. But I would say that when you remove spider veins make sure you buy some compression stockings and avoid doing strenuous exercise for up to two weeks after treatment has been done. This is because you may prevent the blood vessels from shutting down.
